Celebrating Our Educators at Tatana Island! 📚✨

To celebrate World Teachers’ Day, the CPL Foundation team visited the Buk bilong Pikinini Tatana Island Library Learning Centre to participate in honoring Head Librarian Hehato Koregai, Assistant Teacher Jessie Keledavid, and Assistant Teacher Konio Morea for their endless dedication.

Head Librarian Hehato, who started with BbP back in 2014, shared what this long-standing support means to the community: "CPL Foundation has been sponsoring Tatana Library for 12 years now. CPL doesn't only take care of early childhood education - even for older children or parents who are illiterate, CPL steps in to help us guide them. It is the sponsor that keeps us maintained."

As CPL Foundation Manager Deborah Alois highlighted, "Without you, there would be no one here to care for our young students and guide them as they learn. It takes a special person to have the patience and energy to keep up with their curious minds, and we’re grateful for all that you do.”

💛 CPL Foundation Donates Raffle Prizes to Support Cancer Clinic Fundraiser

The CPL Foundation recently visited the Oncology Unit (Cancer Clinic) at Port Moresby General Hospital to donate raffle prizes in support of the clinic's upcoming fundraising event.

Scheduled for 23 October at the UPNG School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), the fundraiser aims to raise funds to support the clinic's ongoing work for cancer patients and their families.

The donation included four cooking appliances and two K100 City Pharmacy gift cards, which will be featured as raffle prizes during the event.

CPL Foundation is proud to support initiatives that strengthen healthcare services and improve the wellbeing of Papua New Guinean communities. We wish the Cancer Clinic every success with their fundraising efforts and encourage the community to get involved in support of this important cause.

Meet the graduate trainees who helped bring the 2026 Pride of PNG Women Awards to life

Four trainees from CPL’s 2026 Graduate Development Program rotated through CPL Foundation this year. Each joined at a different stage of the Awards and helped carry the work forward.

Filma Kila supported nomination screening and spoke with nominees to learn more about their work. She later became the liaison for the Knowledge & Skills finalists, building connections with women whose stories inspired her.

William Jr Bandi volunteered at our nomination drives before his Foundation rotation began. He also helped gather nominees’ stories for publication and enjoyed getting to know the women behind them.

Jenitha Wale supported event preparations and helped coordinate the finalist experience during Awards Week. Working with finalists and the wider event team gave her room to grow beyond her technical background.

Ratei Mackenzie joined for the final preparations and became a point of contact for finalists during Awards Week. She supported them through the ceremony and helped with follow-up after the event.

The Awards gave our trainees real responsibilities and the chance to grow their skills. They gave us their time, energy and care in return.

2026 RISE Cohort Graduates

Forty young women from three secondary school’s complete six-month empowerment program

Port Moresby, Monday 14 September 2026

Forty female students from Tokarara, Marienville and Gordons Secondary Schools graduated from the RISE Empowerment Program at the Gateway Hotel on Saturday 12 September 2026.

The six-month program focused on personal development, career readiness and leadership. Through six structured phases, the students developed skills in self-leadership, communication, goal setting, career exploration, health and wellbeing, and community impact.

Following a successful pilot involving 20 students from Tokarara Secondary School, RISE expanded in 2026 to include students from Marienville and Gordons Secondary Schools, doubling the number of mentees participating in the program.

CPL Foundation Inc. and the Sir Brian Bell Foundation supported the program as lead sponsors. CPL Foundation contributed K182,899.87 towards program delivery, management, workshops and in-school support initiatives.

This support benefited the 40 mentees and 20 mentors involved in the program and enabled RISE to extend its impact through its School Support Project and wider community outreach activities.

Sir Mahesh Patel, OBE, Founder and Chairman Emeritus of CPL Group, shared a pre-recorded message with the graduating cohort.

“CPL Foundation has been proud to support RISE from the very beginning. We saw in RISE a strong reflection of our values, particularly our belief that when young people are given opportunity, encouragement and the right support, they can achieve remarkable things.

“Our commitment has always been about more than providing financial support. It is about investing in young people like you and in the future of Papua New Guinea,” Sir Mahesh said.

In her remarks, Michelle Pillay, Founder and Director of RISE, acknowledged CPL Foundation’s contribution, saying:

“Thank you, CPL Foundation, for your unwavering support. You are helping to create something far greater than a single program.

📚🛒 CPL Foundation Supports Literacy Week Market Day at Tatana LLC

On 10 September, CPL Foundation participated in the Buk Bilong Pikinini (BbP) Tatana Library Learning Centre's Market Day event, held as part of Literacy Week celebrations.

The event provided students with the opportunity to put classroom learning into practice through interactive role-play activities at an ATM, craft shop, stationery shop, supermarket, and restaurant stall. Using play money, students explored real-life scenarios that helped build literacy, numeracy, communication, and decision-making skills in a fun and engaging environment.

Representatives from CPL Foundation, including members of the Graduate Development Program (GDP), joined the BbP team in supporting the activities and engaging with students throughout the day. Their participation reinforced a shared commitment to creating meaningful learning opportunities that help children gain confidence and develop practical life skills.

Speaking at the event, CPL Foundation Manager Deborah Alois said:
