CPL Foundation Inc. launches 14th Pride of PNG Women Awards, opens nominations for Papua New Guinean women

Port Moresby, Monday 11 May 2026

Almost two decades after the introduction of City Pharmacy Limited’s Pride of PNG Women Awards, the CPL Foundation Inc. Is pleased to launch the 14th Edition of the Awards for 2026.

Delivered biennially with founding Partner, Post Courier, and Patron of the Awards, His Excellency Grand Chief Sir Bob Bofeng Dadae, GCL, GCMG, KStJ, Governor-General of Papua New Guinea, the Awards recognize exceptional Papua New Guinean Women whose leadership and service have made a significant impact on their Communities and the Nation.

With over 70 Women Awarded and supported to date, the 14th Pride of PNG Women Awards were officially launched and opened for public nominations on May 11th 2026, at the Hilton Hotel in Port Moresby with the presence of the Governor General, CPL Board Directors and Staff, Program Partners, Media and Guests.

“The Pride of PNG Women Awards are not just Awards- it has become a movement of recognition—every story we share does something extraordinary. It reaches a girl somewhere in PNG and tells her life can be more, your voice can be heard, and you can lead.”, said Sir Mahesh Patel, OBE, Founder of CPL Group and Chairman of the CPL Foundation Inc.

Echoing these sentiments, His Excellency Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae highlighted the critical role women play in shaping the nation. “Across our country, women play a vital role in the strength and resilience of our communities. Many of these contributions are made quietly and without recognition, yet their impact is significant and far-reaching,”.

The 2026 Awards are now open for public nominations from May 11th to June 14th 2026 in six categories, namely:

• Bravery and Courage Award – recognizing women who show exceptional courage in protecting others or standing up against injustice.

• Enterprise and Innovation Award - Recognizing women who create economic opportunities through resourcefulness, initiative, and business leadership.

• Knowledge and Skills Award - Recognizing women who expand opportunities by sharing knowledge, building practical skills, and supporting others to improve their lives and shape better futures.

• Care and Compassion Award – recognizing women who support vulnerable or disadvantaged members of their communities.

• Health and Wellbeing Award – recognizing grassroots leadership in improving community health and awareness.

• Rising Star Award – recognizing young women aged 25 years and under who demonstrate leadership and inspire positive change.

Nomination Forms are available from any CPL Store Nationwide, or online via the CPL Foundation’s website.

Following the close of nominations, a panel of distinguished judges will review all entries, after which finalists for each category will be announced mid-July 2026.

All finalists will then be flown to Port Moresby by our partner airline, Air Niugini, for the Awards Evening of 29th August 2026, at the Hilton Hotel.

“For CPL Foundation, Pride of PNG does not end on Awards Night,” said Ms. Deborah Alois, CPL Foundation Inc. Manager, “Beyond recognition, we remain committed to supporting winners—strengthening their initiatives and connecting them to opportunities and resources that help grow their long-term impact in communities across Papua New Guinea.”

The Pride of PNG Women Awards 2026 is supported by the Post Courier, Air Niugini, Hilton Hotel Port Moresby, Exxon Mobil PNG and CPL Group.

Celebrating 1 Year of Impact | Her Health Hub 🎉

One year ago, CPL Foundation Inc., in partnership with the Sir Brian Bell Foundation, launched Her Health Hub—a groundbreaking cervical cancer screening clinic created to remove barriers and save lives through early detection.

In just 12 months, over 1,500 women have accessed affordable, same-day cervical cancer screening, with 80% walking in from the community—a powerful sign that PNG women are embracing prevention and taking control of their health.

Using the WHO-endorsed GeneXpert diagnostic system, women receive fast, reliable results within hours, with immediate referral pathways to Port Moresby General Hospital when further care is needed.

“Our commitment is simple: empower women with information, access, and dignity. Early detection saves lives.”
— Sir Mahesh Patel, OBE, Chairman, CPL Foundation Inc.

Her Health Hub is more than a clinic—it is a safe space, a support system, and part of a wider movement to reduce cervical cancer rates across PNG.

Celebrating 1 year of Her Health Hub.

In partnership, the CPL Foundation Inc. (CPLF) and the Sir Brian Bell Foundation (SBBF) launched Her Health Hub in April last year which is a groundbreaking cervical cancer screening clinic dedicated to making early detection more accessible and is changing the lives of women’s health care in PNG.

Early detection saves lives, and this initiative is designed to remove the barriers that have prevented women from seeking preventive care for so long. The clinic provides affordable, same-day cervical cancer screening for just K20 for women aged between 30-59. For women requiring further treatment immediate pathways are provided to Port Moresby General Hospital’s Obstetrics & Gynaecology Clinic.

Using the WHO-endorsed GeneXpert diagnostic system, women can receive fast, reliable results within hours, providing clarity, reassurance, and the chance to act early. In just one year, more than 1,500 women have accessed screening and treatment through the clinic. 80% have been walk ins from the community while 20% have accessed screening from our corporate awareness programs. These large numbers demonstrate that women are embracing the importance of prevention and taking charge of their health.

“It’s simple, regular screening saves lives. Her Health Hub has created a much-needed safe space for women to access affordable care in a timely manner. We are proud to see so many women taking charge of their health and accessing the services available” commented Sir Brian Bell Foundation CEO Bronwyn Wright.

Sir Mahesh Patel, OBE, Chairman, CPL Foundation Inc.: “Our commitment is simple: empower women with information, access, and dignity. Early detection saves lives. Through Her Health Hub, we’re working together turning awareness into action and making screening accessible for every woman.”

The facility is staffed by specially trained healthcare professionals and has been constructed and equipped to deliver world-class care in a local community setting. Her Health Hub is more than a clinic, it’s part of a wider movement to break stigma, raise awareness, and reduce cervical cancer rates across PNG.

Her Health Hub is located at City Pharmacy Wellness Clinic Badili Stop & Shop, Badili, Moresby South. We are open from 9am – 3pm Monday – Friday and 9am – 1pm Saturday. Bookings are essential. Contact our team on +675 8338 1389 or email: [email protected]

At CPL Foundation, we’re proud to sponsor initiatives that turn ambition into opportunity. The recent RISE workshop demonstrated the power of purpose and partnership—bringing entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and career exposure to life for young girls.

A key highlight was the launch of their entrepreneurial journey, giving mentees access to loans to start their own businesses—building confidence and real-world skills. The inspiring stories shared, including Martina Toulogu’s journey of resilience, remind us of the importance of perseverance and support.

We are inspired by the dedication of everyone involved—mentors, industry women, and supporters—who are helping create pathways to a brighter future.

Together, we’re investing in possibilities and empowering the next generation to rise.

CPL Foundation Supports Frontline Response to SARV and Gender-Based Violence

CPL Foundation Inc. recently donated more than 1,000 medical items to PNG Tribal Foundation to strengthen frontline response efforts under their Senisim Pasin Program.

These medical items will be used by trained human rights defenders responding to cases of sorcery accusation-related violence (SARV) and gender-based violence in remote and high-risk communities across Papua New Guinea, where access to basic health services is often limited.

The items enable immediate first aid for victims, particularly women and children, helping stabilise injuries such as burns and physical trauma before they are transported for further medical care.

“This support will significantly strengthen frontline response efforts, especially in rural areas where responders are often the first point of contact for survivors,” said Senisim Pasin Program National Coordinator, Marjorie Finkeo.

CPL Foundation’s support reflects its commitment to backing practical, community-led initiatives that promote safety, dignity, and wellbeing for vulnerable populations.

The RISE mentees were also assigned their 4-month business projects, each receiving K200 in seed funding to apply skills in money management and business operations.

As a major sponsorship partner, CPL Foundation remains committed to creating opportunities that help young people build confidence, skills and sustainable futures.
