Whiritoa Lifeguard Service Welcome to the Official Whiritoa Lifeguard Service page. Our key purpose is to prevent injury and death on Whiritoa Beach.

To donate to our Club Rebuild -> https://chuffed.org/project/whiritoa-clubhouse Whiritoa Lifeguard Service, between Waihi and Whangamata on the Coromandel was formed in 1974. The Clubhouse sits prominently near the middle of the 1.6 km beach. We provide a seasonal volunteer lifeguard service to the Whiritoa community. We have a very successful Junior programme covering Nippers, Cadets, Trainees an

d Rookies. Dedicated Coaches are appointed to each of these groups who train together weekdays from Christmas to mid January. Members can join in the social events and relax after a hot day at the claimed "Bar with the best view in the World". The Whiritoa Summer programme is largely based around the Club, and offers a wide range of events for the Whiritoa Community.

The Bar With the Best View in the World will be open from 4pm today with full support from the Clubhouse Snackbar team. Today you are hosted by Corinne, Bruce and Ka. Skip cooking and enjoy some hot chips, a pizza, loaded fries, or nachos with a refreshment from the bar.

Visitors are always welcome. You are permitted to be signed in by a member up to 3 times before we require you to join the club. Members, please ensure you bring your membership cards, as we are a member only establishment.

It is taking place at the Whiritoa Surf Club and online on Sunday 31st May 2026 at 3pm. If you cannot make it in person, the link to join online can be found in the agenda. Final reminder that if you’d like to volunteer for one of the following committee roles at the upcoming AGM nominations are due into our club secretary by this Sunday (3rd May 2026).

- Chairperson
- Health and Safety Officer
- Facilities Manager
- Lifeguard Director

Come on down and join us, give your kitchen a miss and come and enjoy some yummy nachos, or pizza, or a hotdog along with some fabulous hot chips.

Remember the Pink Ribbon afternoon tea is on from 2.30pm, and we will be selling raffle tickets to win the prizes supplied by 100% Home Whangamata. The prize will be drawn this weekend!

We are all ready for you! Come and join us today at 2.30 for our Pink Ribbon Afternoon Tea. All of the community is welcome, we will have a door prize for the best dressed, and a couple of raffles with prizes donated by 100% Home Whangamata. That was a fabulous community turnout this morning to celebrate Anzac Day. Please remember, we are also celebrating Pink Ribbon Day today, while we have you all in the hood. Please come and join us at 2.30 for an afternoon tea. There is a raffle and a door prize, which has been sponsored by 100% Home Whangamata. Be a star and join us, if you can, wear something pink, and bring a wee plate to share. The Bar with the Best View in the World will be opening at 4pm.

Come and join us and celebrate those friends who have fought this battle.

The whole community is welcome to attend the Whiritoa Anzac Commemoration from 6am tomorrow morning at the club. This event is hosted by Glenda and Mark, and with the prospect of some great weather, we are hoping for a spectacular sunrise while we honour those men and woman who fought for our freedom.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
