Whiritoa Lifeguard Service Welcome to the Official Whiritoa Lifeguard Service page. Our key purpose is to prevent injury and death on Whiritoa Beach.

To donate to our Club Rebuild -> https://chuffed.org/project/whiritoa-clubhouse Whiritoa Lifeguard Service, between Waihi and Whangamata on the Coromandel was formed in 1974. The Clubhouse sits prominently near the middle of the 1.6 km beach. We provide a seasonal volunteer lifeguard service to the Whiritoa community. We have a very successful Junior programme covering Nippers, Cadets, Trainees and Rookies. Dedicated Coaches are appointed to each of these groups who train together weekdays from Christmas to mid January. Members can join in the social events and relax after a hot day at the claimed "Bar with the best view in the World". The Whiritoa Summer programme is largely based around the Club, and offers a wide range of events for the Whiritoa Community.

Whiritoa Lifeguard Service and the Whiritoa Volunteer Fire Brigade would like to thank our sponsors for supporting our raffle and donating prizes at the recent Firemans Bogan Ball.

Thanks goes to New World Whangamata, Jeremy & Bronwyn Dean, JB & Rozanne and 100% Home Whangamata for sponsoring our raffle . Chris and Liz from Bayleys at the Beach sponsored the Best Dressed, and it must have been a hard call to pick the winners! A great time was had by all.

Only one more sleep until the BIG event of the season - THE FIREMANS BALL from 6pm!

BOGAN is such as easy theme, just pop on a black t-shirt, find some scuffed up black boots, and don't brush your hair ... or not - if it is unavailable these days!

If you have never been, then you really must give it a whirl - $15 bucks includes a feed, and door prizes, bring money for raffles - there are heaps of cool prizes to be won!

The proceeds from the door sales ($15) and raffles support both the Fire Brigade and the Surf Club. They put the show on for us, and we run the bar - collaboration at its best!

As this is a Private Function, you are not required to be a member of either organisation, but you do need to get a ticket. Just do it, come and enjoy a good catch up with neighbours, warm up around the fire pit, or dance the night away!

The Bar with the Best View in the World is open at 4pm today, with full support from the Clubhouse Snackbar, so leave the cooking to us, smoothies and real fresh fruit ice-cream are back on the menu!

Come on down and enjoy the beach front lifestyles! Tonight, you are hosted by Vicky and Trudy with Finlay in the kitchen! Everyone is welcome!

At 5pm, just as the sun disappears and the outdoor seting gets a bit chilly, the ALL BLACKS will be on the big screen in the hall, but bring a blanket or some warm clothes, just in case, we aren't leaping up in down in excitement!

Thanks to all the brave swimmers at lunchtime, about 30 people were brave enough to jump in the tide! Pictures will follow.

Visitors are always welcome. You are permitted to be signed in by a member up to 3 times before we require you to join the club. Members, please ensure you bring your membership cards, as we are a member only establishment.

Bayleys at the Beach Midwinter Family Plunge is on in just over an hour! Everyone is welcome, a free hot chokie is available to all, including supporters!

6 x $25 prizes will be won!

Bacon Buns are $5 and Sausage Buns are $2. There will also be hot chips on the go, all things to warm you up! Soft drinks and any non alcoholic beverages will also be available. The Bar with the Best View in the World will open at 4pm today, and the All Blacks will be on at 5pm.

Don't forget tomorrow at midday is the Bayleys at the Beach Midwinter Plunge, be there and enjoy a hot chokie after a quick plunge in the sea!

And after some deliberation, we will show the All Blacks game at the club tomorrow at 5pm, bar will be open from 4pm as per normal!
