Keen to help out at the Club this summer? We’re looking for a few more volunteers to help with the bar roster over the season.

You don’t need to already have a Bar Manager’s Certificate, if you’re keen to get involved, the Club can help cover the cost of getting one.

We’re getting excited for another summer at Whangamatā Surf Lifesaving Club ☀️🌊

Labour Weekend is coming up quickly and there’s plenty happening around the Club as we get ready for the season ahead.

Across the weekend we’ll have:
🏄 Junior Surf Have-a-Go sessions
🏅 Coach & athlete training
🛟 Lifeguard refresher training
🙌 Volunteer & training opportunities
🍻 Bar open Friday & Saturday night

We’ll share the full Labour Weekend programme soon, so keep an eye out for all the details. Looking forward to having everyone back around the Club for another great season!

It’s been a busy few weeks in Lifesaving Sport, with the team competing at both the Eastern Region Pool Rescue Championships in Gisborne and the Northern Region Pool Rescue Championships in Auckland.

There have been some awesome performances across both competitions, with the squad continuing to build towards Nationals, including a standout couple of swims from Simiosi Tukia, who set two New Zealand records! 🇳🇿

At Eastern Region, Simi set a new U17 Male 50m Manikin Carry national record of 31.47 seconds, before backing it up at Northern Region with another national record in the U17 Male 100m Rescue Medley, finishing in 1:07.75.

Across both competitions there were plenty of strong performances and podium finishes across individual and team events, showing the progress the squad has made throughout the season.

A special shoutout to Oscar Williams, who has been putting plenty of time into coaching and developing the squad. It’s great to see that work coming through in their racing and the team continuing to progress.

With Pool Rescue Nationals now less than a month away, the squad is tracking towards some exciting results. Good luck for the final few weeks of training, team! 🤍🖤❤️

We’re incredibly grateful for Trust Waikato’s long-standing support of Whangamatā Surf Life Saving Club. Their commitment to supporting community organisations has made a real difference to our Club over many years, helping us continue to provide opportunities for our members, volunteers and the wider Whangamatā community.

🏆🇳🇿 Whangamatā AOE Finalists!

Congratulations to Madi Kidd, who has been announced as a finalist for Toyota Financial Services Sportsperson of the Year at the Surf Lifesaving Awards of Excellence in October.

Congratulations also to our boatie boys Josh, Zane & Serg, who are finalists for Aon Sports Team of the Year with Omanu. 🚣‍♂️

All four had impressive seasons across the board, and these nominations are a great reflection of their hard work and performances.

This past weekend was a great weekend of IRB development in Raglan! A group of our lifeguards headed over for the IRB Driver Development Camp, building their skills and continuing to grow their IRB experience.

A huge congratulations to Isla Petherbridge and Ella-Rose Luke, who both gained their IRB Driver Award, and to Tai Rimmer, who qualified as an IRB Instructor! It was also great to have Josh Hoskins attending as a development candidate and getting more valuable time and experience on the water 👏🏻

Awesome to see our lifeguards continuing to develop their skills heading into the season ❤️🖤🤍
