2026: The Late H.E. Michael Green - Former New Zealand High Commissioner to Fiji was there when Fiji went into the Bainimarama turmoil & subsequently the Coup 2006.
The Late H.E. Michael Green was declared Persona Non-Grata soon after Bainimarama came into power.
"The expelled NZ High Commissioner, late Michael Green, cites “Muslim Coup” aspect of 2006 in his forthcoming personal memoir - names sisters Nazhat and Shaista, and Aiyaz Khaiyum; the memoir also claims intimidation and thuggery in Fiji."

PRESS STATEMENT BY THE MINISTER FOR JUSTICE AND ACTING ATTORNEY-GENERAL, HON. SIROMI TURAGA

The Electoral Commission has announced that the earliest possible date for the issuance of the Writ of Election is 24th June 2026. In accordance with the Constitution and relevant electoral laws, the next General Election is scheduled to fall within the constitutional timeframe.

There have been reports and commentary circulating on social media suggesting that global fuel price concerns and international developments may result in the deferment of the General Election. At this stage, such claims remain speculative.

The Coalition Government remains committed to acting in accordance with the law and the Constitution of the Republic of Fiji. As a Government, we will continue to uphold constitutional processes and ensure that any decisions relating to the electoral process are guided by the legal framework of our country.

The Government also recognises the ongoing work of the Constitutional Review Commission and will carefully consider its recommendations and outcomes through the appropriate constitutional and legal processes.

As Minister responsible for Elections, I have been advised by the Electoral Commission and the Fiji Elections Office that voter registration activities continue and that electoral preparations remain ongoing in accordance with their statutory responsibilities.

The people of Fiji can be assured that the relevant institutions continue to carry out their duties as mandated by law, and that the Government will continue to provide the necessary support to ensure that all constitutional and legal processes are respected.

I got a call just a few minutes ago from the Station Officer in Taveuni letting me know a complaint from abroad has been made regarding my post. 😊
The SO requested I remove the post, and I decided to just remove anything that identifies her.
Myself and the SO have a very very good relationship and he is a great man whom I can talk with openly and frankly.
But tomorrow I will be making an official complaint against this woman to the necessary authorities regarding online harrassment.
See, people enjoy doing things from behind the screen but when exposed dont like it 🤣. ****
Racism is a trait that only low life people allow to inhabit within themselves. It is worse when they dont even live in their own country and sit comfortable abroad while sending nasty messages like the ones below and calling us Vulagi 🙂. Again, words are words, even if you want to deny my heritage and identity without knowing me but looking at the surface value of things.
I have a history with this woman; since 2016 where she did not like the fact that we were distributing food and supplies through Vuna Tikina after Tropical Cyclone Winston. Later myself and community workers realised her and her brother were trying to intertwine our community work with village politics.
He was completely cut out from the group after a racist tirade on email which I still have, claiming the Fiji residents were trying to make a profit off of Native Resources. 😒
An educated woman 🤷
She then searched me out on Google trying to find other accounts related to me because I kept blocking her and then continued the harrassment to this year not liking that we had cleaned up the rubbish dumped at the Blow Hole.
I usually dont care; block and ignore. She continued through multiple fb accounts claiming to be NGOs. But where the biggest problem is that she started going after clients of my own business. 🙃
Furthermore, she called me and then tried to extort money from me (she wanted to make a money deal) to which she then realised i was legally registered 🤣 and I told her she can give her demands to my lawyer 😊.
I know her family very well. Super kind, super friendly and wonderful people. So this is no attack on them or their family name but it has come to the point where I warned her any contact again or attempted contact would result in me posting publicly about her.
So unfortunately, this is what I have had to do.
Respect is not given just because of your name and title. It is EARNED through action and how you treat others. Exactly why I refuse to use the title "Honourable" with government Ministers.
I apologize deeply to her family here. Never have they ever said anything or done anything and this is no reflection of who they are.
We all have those rogue family members, even in mine who I very easily cut off for life.
But someone needs to get her under control. Coming after my business which I have worked hard for over 14 years in Fiji is something I will not tolerate."
