7,673 hours 💜✨

That’s how much time our incredible volunteers have generously given over the past year to help support our community.

As we celebrate National Volunteer Week and this year’s theme, Your Year to Volunteer (Tōu Tau ki te Tūao), we want to acknowledge every single person who has donated their time to our kaupapa. Whether it was for a few hours, a regular shift, or years of service, your time has truly made an impact on the community.

Every year, Kindness Collective supports more than 120,000 people across Aotearoa. Behind every food parcel packed, every donation sorted, every pair of pyjamas distributed, and every act of kindness delivered, there are volunteers helping make it happen 💪

Those 7,673 volunteer hours are the equivalent of 959 full working days, which is time that has helped bring practical support, kindness and hope to thousands of people when they needed it most.

E mihi ana ki ngā tūao katoa. To every volunteer who has shown up for our community, thank you. We truly couldn't do it without you 🫂💜✨

Over the last few months, your workplaces, ECE centres, schools, gyms and teams have been generously donating and busy collecting pyjamas for local kids in your area, and we are so grateful! 💜

E mihi ana to all of the collections happening across the motu - from Whangārei, Whanganui, Waikato and Wellington, right the way down to Nelson, Christchurch and Invercargill.

Your generosity means that kids in your area who need pyjamas will now be warm this winter 🌙❄️✨👉 kindness.org.nz/pjproject to support the kaupapa!

Last week, we had the privilege of spending World Play Day with two of our Kindness Cup schools and LEGO 👷🧱💛

Our tamariki are the future engineers, architects, city planners, and innovators of Aotearoa, and with learn through play events like these, we hope to unlock more creativity, innovation and kindness than ever! ✨

If your school would like to be a part of the Kindness Cup whānau as well to join the fun, head to kindness.org.nz/kindnesscup to register now 👈

Ngā mihi LEGO and The LEGO Foundation for supporting this kaupapa 💜

Last Friday, we ran the very first National PJ Day to help raise awareness for Kiwi kids who need a pair of warm PJs, and that we did! 🙌🌙

We reached far and wide, from a puna reo in Kaikohe, in the studios of MediaWorks New Zealand radio stations, at schools and ECE centres across the motu, and to The Warehouse stores.

We’re so grateful for everyone who showed up and continues to show up for our community in need.

The PJ Project runs till the end of July, and we still have thousands of kids on the waitlist, so if you’d like to donate $10 for one child, head to kindness.org.nz/pjproject now 💜❄️

“Your kindness and support mean so much to our tamariki and their whānau. The gift of warm pyjamas will not only help keep them comfortable during the colder months, but also bring a sense of care, dignity and belonging.” – Rosehill School

Thousands of pyjamas donated by you have been picked up by our team, sorted, packed and then distributed to local kids in need ❄️☔️

This is a huge mihi to all of our volunteers who have contributed their energy and time to help us get these cosy PJs to kids who need them this winter.

We’ve seen a huge increase in need this year compared to last, and wouldn’t be able to keep up if it wasn’t for your kindness and generosity💜✨

Winter can place enormous pressure on families already doing their best to make ends meet, which is why we created Manaaki Ora 💜✨

Manaaki Ora is our winter wellbeing programme, providing wrap-around support in four key areas - food, warmth, energy and healthcare. This year, 96 families are taking part, receiving practical support designed to ease the pressure of winter and help set them up for the months ahead.

The impact is real 👇

Last year, 83% of participants reported improved wellbeing, including better physical and mental health, and greater financial stability. One family even shared that the support they received over the nine-week programme helped them save enough to buy their own car, which then enabled them to secure employment.

These are the kinds of outcomes that become possible when kindness is matched with real solutions.

Ngā mihi nui to our incredible partners Foodstuffs North Island, The Warehouse, Nau Mai Ra and Tend Health for making this kaupapa happen 💜✨

Ranui Primary School - what an amazing effort for yesterday's National PJ Day. Ngā mihi nui for the support! 💜
