Titirangi Urban Sanctuary

Titirangi Urban Sanctuary https://tus.nz

Neighbours working together to create an urban sanctuary in Titirangi. We are a voluntary group of neighbours from the South Titirangi area.

Restoring biodiversity through predator control, w**d removal and habitat restoration. We are working together to reduce predators, reduce w**ds and restore habitat in our local area. We have a large network of volunteers who run traplines, bait stations, w**ding groups and work in our local nursery. We are a registered NZ Charity. We offer free assistance with w**d control and native re-planting

in the Titirangi Peninsula. We hold monthly working bees on the last Sunday of every month. Everyone is welcome to join us. If you are keen to be involved…

We can provide:
• Free w**d control advice
• W**d bags and barrels
• Native plants for areas cleared of w**ds

In our library:
• W**d control strategy for South Titirangi
• Various booklets on w**ds and natives

Street Coordinators required! Titirangi Urban Sanctuary is currently setting up a network of Street Coordinators. The coordinators will support our work on the ground and take some of the load off our hardworking committee.

The role of the coordinator will be to share information and give advice to neighbours when requested. SC will also be able to distribute trapping equipment, bait, w**d bags etc.

We are running a series of rolling training sessions and all Street Coordinators will be fully supported. The job itself is voluntary and should amount to only a few hours a month.

You do not need to be an expert in trapping or environmental work, you just need to be friendly and keen, we can help you with the rest! Interested? We would love you to join the great group of Coordinators already onboard!

Contact our coordinator Ella [email protected] for more information

Many Otitori Rd, Wood Bay residents will know local identity and long term resident Trevor Pollard. Throughout the 65 years he has lived down the road, Trevor has made many notable contributions to the community.
Trevor asked TUS for assistance w**ding the reserve behind the bus stop. It is currently absolutely smothered in asparagus vine. TUS has done two w**ding bees at this spot and, due to the scale of the problem, we will be doing more.
At each w**ding bee Trevor has joined us at the bus stop with his dog Oscar for a coffee and told us stories about the local history of the area.

Every trap we place protects the bush, birds and backyards we love in Titirangi.

With local support, we’re removing predators, restoring habitat, and helping native species return.

A small monthly gift keeps traps working, supports volunteers, and protects more homes. Support our work!

Our wonderful w**ders are dedicated to reducing invasive w**ds here in Titirangi.

It’s fun and rewarding work with a friendly bunch of locals. We provide most gear, you just need gardening gloves and footwear.

We w**d together once a month for two hours. W**ding is usually the last Sunday of each month. You can opt in or out of each w**ding session as it suits.

If you are keen to know more email Ella our Coordinator, [email protected]
