Timaru District Council, South Canterbury Road Safety and local emergency services have teamed up to tell you exactly why (in the nicest way possible) they don't want to see you speeding.

These are the people that will see you in an emergency and have regularly seen the end result of speeding.

This is a canterbury wide campaign in conjunction with NZTA, Local Government, NZ Police, St John and Fire and Emergency New Zealand.

Throughout October you will see more posts like this of emergency service personnel based in the Timaru district.

Would you know what to do if someone suddenly collapsed? Learning CPR and how to use an AED could help save a life.

Join us on Thursday, 15 October at the St John Timaru Op Shop for a FREE 3 Steps for Life session. In just a short time, you'll learn three simple steps that could make all the difference in a medical emergency.

✅ Call 111
✅ Start CPR
✅ Use an AED

Everyone is welcome, no previous experience required.

There are a couple of spaces left in the FREE 3 Steps for Life session from Hato Hone St John tomorrow afternoon.

3 Steps for Life is a free one-hour training session providing lifesaving skills and confidence to help if someone has a cardiac arrest in your community.

You will learn how to take action by calling 111, how to start CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and how to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).

Remember, you need to ring Timaru Library on 03 687 7202 to book your spot.

Take an hour to maybe save a life.

What a fantastic day at the Multicultural Aoraki Timaru Family Fun Day!
A huge thank you to all our volunteers and Youth cadets who came to help at today's event.
It was great to see so many smiling faces, families enjoying time together, and new connections being made throughout the morning.

Great to see so many people at the Horsepower Rally over the weekend! We had lots of interest in CPR, and it was fantastic to see so many people keen to learn a skill that could one day save a life.
A huge thank you to all our volunteers and staff who gave their time and energy to support the event.

Congratulations also to Maddie McGrail, the lucky winner of the St John Ambulance First Aid Kit!

October is dubbed Shocktober for the third year running, and Shocktober is on a mission to empower as many people as possible with lifesaving skills as part of CPR Awareness Month. Throughout October, we've dedicated the month to educating Kiwis across Aotearoa on how to respond when someone experiences a cardiac arrest.

Join us for a free community session at the Timaru Library and learn the 3 Steps for Life: Calling 111, Start CPR and how to use an AED. These simple skills can help save a life while waiting for emergency services to arrive.
