Strategic Projects Fund
The Community Trust has identified 4 strategic pillars; the Environment, Health, Housing and Young People.
What you need to know:
• The round closes on 26th June 2026 with applications presented to our Trustees on 25th August
• It is for projects / programmes over $20,000
• It is aimed at groups and organisations with larger projects, especially those that will generate meaningful measurable improvements aligned with one or more of the Community Trust’s pillars.
• Successful applications will include details of how the project or programme has clear outcomes meeting an identified need – for example by reporting x square metres of pest-free ‘land island’ generated or x young people assisted into employment or training by being provided with skills or experiences.
• This is part of the Community Trust’s grant transformation process and as such there is scope for innovation and collaboration.
The application process and reporting is through SmartyGrants, links on the website.

We are proud to support the community organisations making a difference across Mid and South Canterbury.
In our most recent round of Major Funding, we granted $371,960 across 16 organisations within Mid & South Canterbury.
From walking and cycling tracks, to building repairs and safety upgrades, from nourishing lunches for children to places of connection for older people, these grants help make a real impact within our communities.

We're proud to support the Ashburton Performing Arts Theatre Trust and the Ashburton Event Centre. The Community Trust recently granted $75,000 to support the future of Performing Arts in Ashburton, through upgrading the venue for the next generation of performers.

Citizens Advice Bureau South Canterbury is pleased to announce that our 60 page directory of free and self referral organisations and services is being printed this week!
A huge thanks to the Volunteer team who worked on this, and to Community Trust of Mid & South Canterbury for funding the print run.
We will be starting to distribute them via organisations in the wider community over the next few weeks and into the new year.
