HEADLIGHT – COMMUNITY WELLBEING PROGRAMME COORDINATOR

We are super stoked to welcome Neha Gosalia as Headlight’s Programme Coordinator. Neha has lived, worked and volunteered within the Queenstown-Lakes community for many years and this is just one of many roles she currently fulfils.

Neha is approximately ten times more awesome in person, but if you haven't met her, here are some things you really need to know about her:-

Neha arrived in Queenstown with a driving ambition to learn how to snowboard. She stayed because she didn’t get good enough in her first year! Presumably, she’s still working on her technique, because she’s still here.

On weekends you might find Neha in the water, up a mountain, enjoying her favourite creative expression, or curled up with a good book.

Neha’s definition of community wellbeing is people feeling connected to each other, and feeling supported and safe because they have access to resources and support that they need to thrive and grow individually, and meaningfully contribute to the community.

One of Neha’s inspirations for joining Headlight was her own mental wellbeing journey as a migrant, and the opportunity to use this experience to make the journey easier for others.

Neha is looking forward to connecting with people and learning even more about our beautiful community. Welcome Neha!

WHY WE BELIEVE IN WELLBEING FOR ALL
The vast majority of our community here in the Queenstown Lakes District are migrants/ immigrants, whether from overseas or elsewhere in New Zealand. We were delighted to share a little bit about our community and Headlight-NZ’s programme supporting migrant wellbeing with the Daily Encourager.

It was the first time we’ve come across the Daily Encourager, a charitable trust that highlights amazing people doing wonderful, good things around NZ. Check it out – it’s definitely more uplifting and inspirational than the news 😊

PLEASE HELP US OUT!
Headlight is looking for your input into building the programme: Connect & Thrive: a Wellbeing Programme for Migrants in NZ. We are hosting an event next Friday at Te Atamira, for our community to come and share their stories, spend time together and enjoy some snacks.

We want to try and make sure we don't have everyone turn up all at once! So if you are interested in helping out, we would be grateful if you would register using the QR Code or the link below. It helps us to shape the day, and is also a great way to keep people informed.

There are half-hour time-slots throughout the day and you can register yourself and up to five other people for any time slot.

Please feel free to share this with any lovely people who might be interested in taking part - or just coming along for some snacks and a chat
