Puke Kopipi Kaitiaki
Thank you so much to Ian Skipworth, clearing rubbish from around the Skate Park on 'Keep NZ Beautiful' week, restoring mana. Today's photos show one of 3 new signs, kindly made by Jared from D&D signs, and some new plants doing well on that vulnerable corner. The puriri was initially wind burnt but is coming away again. Please look out for Puke Kopipi over the school holidays.

Spring Mahi and Kaitiaki. Contact Robyn to join our mahi tiaki this Saturday. See the joy of our very own Puangawhanga/native clematis, but sadly the disappointment of new Winter Plantings being pulled out and disturbingly a fire lit. The Skate Park is a disgrace, it deserves a more respectful and safe message for young kids. Please help to care for Puke Kopipi and the Skate Park.

One more post! Thank you to awesome Volunteer, Michele Blagrove, a coastal gardener, also handy with photos. A new inspiring Volunteer, Beatriz, who represents a future generation for the kaitiaki of Puke Kopipi. Myself, finally smiling instad of concentrating, ceremoniously asked to plant the last little manuka, amongst the golf course in the ngahere!

What awesome final winter planting for Matariki, 25 willing happy helpers and the bonus of Malcom Pullman - Photographer - thank you so much Malcom. 1300 plants were in before 1pm.
Thank you to Friday helpers also, collecting plants from Tawapou and laying out - heavy work and no time for photos then, but super supportive Michele Blagrove, and Gerard collecting, Mike Camm, amazing on his quad bike taking plants to the site, Ian Skipworth, Ben Edgar, who was instrumental in organising the kaupapa for Puke Kopipi way back in 2013, Jan Holwell and John Kallu, Ross Clark, Sean Brill from NRC, Ian from tennis and myself laying out.
Also, my photos today of the plants still in place after super heavy rain overnight and grateful thanks to Gerard for washing and returning all the pots!

Puke Kopipi is ready for plants on Saturday, easy access, well prepared, stakes in marking spots. Tomorrow, some of us will be collecting and laying out beautiful big healthy plants from Tawapou. Puke Kopipi is certainly an asset to our community.

Puke Kopipi Annual Winter Planting for Matariki, next Saturday, July 4, any time from 9.30 to 3.30. I am so excited, it is our last winter planting and the easiest access, bordering the golf course and well prepared. We began in 2013 and amidst the adversity of many large slips during 'July 2020 big rains', we have persevered. Thank you so much to all the awesome Volunteers over so many years.

We had a wonderful mahi on Saturday, thank you to loyal volunteers. The winter planting area by the golf course, now looks well prepared, making planting so much easier.
