Together, we're working to showcase everything our district has to offer, encouraging more visitors to explore our towns and support our amazing local businesses.

CTP is a newly (last few years) reformed community group, previously known as Positively Promoting Plains (PPP). While the name has changed, our goal remains the same: celebrating our communities and helping them thrive.

We're always keen to hear fresh ideas and learn how we can better support each town. Whether it's promoting local events, highlighting hidden gems, or creating something unique to put your community on the map, we'd love to hear from you.

We're also looking for new members. If you feel your town could benefit from having a stronger voice, we'd love to welcome you to the team.

Thanks to the support of Hauraki District Council, the group can apply for funding for creative projects or opportunities that help your town stand out and attract visitors.

• 𝐏𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐚 – 𝐇𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐤𝐢 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 •

After sharing a series of historic Hauraki Plains towns inspired by vintage tourism posters using ai to recreate, I thought I'd try something a little different for Pipiroa.

This image started with a photograph taken by Luke, one of our CTP members, which was then edited to capture that classic poster feel while keeping the scene true to the place itself.

Pipiroa is one of our smaller townships, but like many places across the Plains, it has its own story and character.

𝐊𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐄𝐇𝐈 • 𝟏𝟗𝟔𝟑

Our recent 𝗛𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗸𝗶 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 poster sparked plenty of discussion, which is exactly what Connecting The Plains is about and understand not everyone likes the creations of ai.

We're always looking for ways to celebrate our history, share local stories, and remind people why so many families have chosen to stay in this district for generations.

This poster was inspired by an aerial photograph of Kerepehi in 1963. At the time, Kerepehi was a thriving township at the heart of a growing farming district. Local industry was strong, businesses were busy, and the community played an important role in the success of the Hauraki Plains.

The original aerial photograph will be posted in the comments so you can compare the two and take a closer look at this snapshot in time.

Connecting The Plains exists to promote our district, support local businesses, encourage growth, and showcase what makes this area special. We don't work for the Hauraki Hauraki District Council, but we do work alongside them with their support and many other local organisations that want to see the Hauraki Plains continue to thrive.

We got creative with the help of AI and reimagined this historic aerial photograph of the Hauraki Plains from 1959 as a vintage-style travel poster.

The image captures the winding Waihou River and the patchwork of farmland that has helped shape our district for generations.

It's a fascinating glimpse into the past while celebrating the landscape that many of us still know today.

🌾🏁 Breaking News, Hosting the Battle Of The Paddocks! 🏁🌾

Get ready, Hauraki Plains! This weekend, we’re bringing the first-ever Battle Of The Paddocks - Tractor Edition, racing right through the town streets! 🚜💨

Expect high speed turns at The Public Office, mud run across the Ngatea Rugby Field and a compulsory pit stop mid race at the local café for the ultimate coffee refuel.

Spectators welcome, bring your lawn chairs and cheering voices!

Warning: Helmets optional, laughter mandatory.

🚤 Twin Rivers Water Ski Race — Back This Weekend!

The Annual Twin Rivers Water Ski Race returns on Saturday 7 March 2026 — come down and check out the action!

📍 Where: Piako River (Ngatea to the Firth) and Waihou River (Firth to Puke Bridge)
⏰ Time: 8:30am – 3:00pm

⚠️ Waterway notice: For safety, water users (other than competitors) are asked to avoid these areas between 8:30am and 3:00pm on event day.

Bring the whānau, enjoy the atmosphere, and support an awesome local event!

Connecting The Plains is all about bringing the Hauraki Plains community closer together. We are a community-driven group dedicated to supporting, celebrating, and strengthening the connections that make our rural area thrive. Our goal is to create opportunities for people, businesses, and organisations to come together, share ideas, and take part in activities that enrich our community.

We focus on promoting and supporting local community events, from parades and fundraisers to cultural and seasonal celebrations. These events are the heartbeat of our community and they bring people together, showcase local talent and businesses, and create shared experiences that foster pride and belonging.

Beyond events, we aim to highlight the achievements and contributions of the people and groups that make the Hauraki Plains unique. By sharing stories, connecting networks, and encouraging participation, we help build a stronger, more resilient community where everyone feels included and valued.

At Connecting The Plains, we believe that a connected community is a thriving community. By supporting local events and initiatives, celebrating local people, and promoting collaboration across the Plains, we are here to help our community grow stronger, together.

We’re excited to announce our very first planned fundraiser for the Kerepehi Community Hall!

Join them for a Car Boot Sale where every stall helps raise funds towards a new roof for the Kerepehi hall.
