He taonga te reo, kōrerotia te reo māori. The language is a treasure, speak the language 💙

This Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, we're celebrating the unique language that connects us to the stories, culture and identity of Aotearoa.

Whether it's learning a new kupu, greeting someone with a "kia ora", or giving te reo Māori a go in your everyday life, every effort helps keep our language thriving.

🌿 Kia kaha te reo Māori!

A huge milestone for the Wakefield community 🏀

The new basketball court is officially open — creating another awesome space for tamariki, rangatahi, whānau, and the wider community to connect, be active, and have fun together.

This project has been made possible through Sport NZ Flood Recovery Funding and the incredible collaboration of organisations, partners, and community members who all played a part in bringing this space to life.

A massive thank you to:
🙌 Sport New Zealand
🙌 Tasman District Council - Te Kaunihera o te tai o Aorere
🙌 Kūmānu
🙌 Downer Group
🙌 Basketball New Zealand
🙌 Chemist Warehouse
🙌 BNZ
🙌 Nelson Basketball Association
🙌 NBS Nelson Giants
🙌 Mitre 10 Mega

Special thanks as well to everyone involved behind the scenes — from planning and project management, to planting, line marking, basketball hoop installations, activations, kai, and community support.

This is what community collaboration looks like 💙💛
