Last week Layla spent time baking these delicious cookies with her grandmother, Jo, and wanted to share them with patients, families, and staff in our Specialist Palliative Care Unit (SPCU).

Earlier this year, Layla's grandad received care in the SPCU. Inspired by that experience, she hoped these sweet treats might bring a smile and a little comfort to other families spending time with us.

Thank you, Layla, for your thoughtful gift and for sharing such kindness with our hospice community. Your generosity brightened our day.

🚚 WE’RE HIRING — 2 x Logistics Support positions

Are you practical, hands-on and looking for a role where your work genuinely makes a difference?

We’re looking for two Logistics Support Team Members to join our Donation & Distribution Centre team at Nelson Tasman Hospice.

From collecting donated furniture and preparing items for sale, to delivering purchases and moving stock between our Hospice shops, no two days will be quite the same.

These are permanent positions, 20–26 hours per week, including weekend work.

If you have a full NZ driver licence, can drive a manual vehicle, enjoy physical work and working as part of a team, we’d love to hear from you.

Every item collected, prepared and sold helps generate vital funding for Hospice care across our region. ❤️

📅 Applications close 30 October 2026

Senior Law, Pitt & Moore Lawyers and Atkinson Crehan Law had a Planning Ahead promotion for the month of September. For each new will signed they donated $50 to Nelson Tasman Hospice!

Shoutout to C & F Legal Limited who volunteered their time to answer general questions about wills during Planning Ahead Month.

Having a Will gives you peace of mind that you have made the best plans possible for the people and causes you care about. You have made it easier for your family and friends to do the right thing when you die.

A heartfelt thank you to all the law firms that supported this initiative. We’re incredibly grateful to have you as part of our compassionate community.❤️

Nelson Tasman Hospice is delighted to acknowledge and thank Pub Charity for its generous grant supporting the role of our Medical Director, Dr Jodie Battley.

As the demand for hospice services continues to grow across our region, the support of community-minded funding partners such as Pub Charity plays a vital role in ensuring patients and their families receive the specialist care they need, when they need it most.

Thank you to Pub Charity and their associated venues: Collingwood Tavern - Tinkys, The Wakefield Hotel, The Star, Armadillos Richmond, The Sands Brewery Bar & Kitchen - customers and colleagues.

Community grants are integral to the sustainability of our Hospice; if you know of any Trusts or Foundations that may consider supporting our essential service work, please let us know.
