📣 WE NEED YOU! 📣

Unfortunately, we are short one mentor for ILGS next weekend, as one of our mentor team has had to pull out.

The role of a mentor is to inspire, encourage, and support their team throughout the weekend, accompanying candidates through all aspects of camp life and activities.

This position is ideal for someone who may be interested in becoming a future instructor and wanting to gain experience in a supportive environment.

As a mentor, you will be involved in all aspects of the weekend and play a huge part in making the experience positive and memorable for our candidates.

Does this sound like you? If so, please reach out ASAP!

Whangamata Surf Life Saving Club is seeking expressions of interest for a Head Coach for the 2026/2027 season.

The WSLSC has been reviewing how they support their juniors through to seniors, elite competitors, and future leaders within the club. The intent is to create greater continuity in athlete development, structured off season programming, and clearer progression pathways that align with both performance outcomes and culture.

• Prepare athletes for major events (Pool Rescue & Nationals)
• Support athlete development and high-performance pathways
• Contribute to a positive team culture and wider club capability
• Work with managers and committees on competition planning

What We Offer:
• Flexible hours (to be agreed)
• Accommodation available over peak season

The 2026 Eastern Region IRB Long Haul event.

After careful consideration, the decision has been made in conjunction with Local Sport Committee, to cancel this year’s event. We know this will be disappointing.

The Long Haul is a valued event on the calendar, and we recognise the time, effort, and preparation that many of you put into it each year. This decision has not been made lightly. There have been a number of contributing factors that have led to this outcome.

While alternative dates were explored, delivering an event of this scale requires alignment across a number of areas including volunteer availability, staffing, and council processes and approvals.

Unfortunately, we have not been able to find a viable option that allows us to deliver the event safely and to the standard expected. We understand the impact this will have on competitors, clubs, and supporters, and we are genuinely sorry for the disruption this causes.

Thank you for your understanding and continued commitment to surf lifesaving. It is appreciated.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss further, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Ngā mihi,
Avan
