It certainly feels like Christmas at Methven Toy Library today…five (yes FIVE) new toys hitting the shelves just in time for our last session of 2025 🥳🎄 Come on down and check them out! All hires today are automatically extended to 17th January when we reopen for 2026.

🎄Methven Toy Library will be closing for a four week period over the festive season.🎄
Our last session of 2025 will be Saturday 20th December 9am to 10.30am and our first session for 2026 will be Saturday 17th January 9am to 10.30am.
Don’t worry you won’t miss out on your toys! All toys hired on the 13th, 16th, and 20th of December will have their due dates automatically extended until January 17th. We kindly ask that any toys hired on 9th December or earlier are returned by the 20th December.

Just in time for summer we have this super exciting new water tray featuring all your favourite Bluey characters!

There is so much to love about this new toy - foldable for easy transport and storage, low to the ground for crawlers and sitters, water wheels, slides, removable water gates for older children to explore how water moves! I have a feeling this one is going to be popular, so get in to the library on Tuesday or pop a reservation in online to make sure you get to join in the watery fun.

Joining and using a toy library is the best way to be sustainable with toys! The children don’t miss out, and you don’t add to the waste and pollution by owning all the different toys that they only use for a week. Remember to tell all your friends with little tamariki about us and get them on the sustainable toy buzz too!

Our monthly committee meeting was last night and amongst discussing new toys, librarian and treasurer reports, plans for the outdoor space, and future fundraising ideas, we also had a lovely evening chatting and sharing the highs and lows of motherhood! Our committee is always open to fresh perspectives and people who are eager to grow and improve our little toy library for the benefit of Methven families. Pop along and join us sometime!

🎁 Christmas is sneaking up on us and if your list of people to buy for is starting to stress you out, we’ve got the perfect gift!🎁
Gift vouchers for the Methven Toy Library are available from $10 to $90 (the value of an annual non-volunteer membership) and can be gifted to existing members to top up for toy hire, or to non-members to pay for membership fees when they sign up.
