💜 Volunteer Week 2026 💜

This week we celebrate the incredible volunteers who give their time, energy, skills, and hearts to make our communities stronger.

*At Methven Scout Group*, our volunteers are the people behind the adventures, camps, fundraising, meetings, and countless opportunities our young people enjoy. Every contribution, big or small, helps shape confident, capable, and caring future leaders.

Thank you to all our leaders, committee members, parents, and supporters. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and our group simply wouldn't be the same without you.

Volunteers don't necessarily have the time; they just have the heart. 💚

This week the Cubs took part in an Earth Hour Conservation Badge activity with a full session in darkness 🔦. The kids learned valuable camping adventure skills through hands on, interactive activities in safe and engaging environments.

They explored fire lighting, cooking, and preparing hot drinks while learning the importance of leading, assisting, and participating as a team. It was fantastic to see everyone building confidence, teamwork, and outdoor skills together.

Well done Cubs and leaders for this amazing, well-planned session. 👏🔥🏕️

Being a Scout is more than just earning badges or going on adventures.
It’s about building confidence, friendships, leadership, resilience, and lifelong memories. 🌿🔥

Our young people are supported every step of the way by an incredible team of trained leaders who volunteer their time, skills, and passion to help our tamariki grow and succeed. Their dedication creates a safe, fun, and encouraging environment where every child can learn through personal, adventure and community participation.

From learning practical life skills to helping others in the community, Scouts help shape future leaders and strong citizens. We are so proud of the amazing support, guidance, and encouragement our leaders provide each week.

Thank you to all our volunteer leaders, parents, and supporters who make Scouting possible. 💜

Another fantastic week for our Cubs! 🌟

The Cubs worked hard towards their Emergency Skills Badge Levels 1 & 2 and Tramping Levels 1 & 2. They learned important safety skills, teamwork, and confidence while having plenty of fun along the way. 🥾⛑️

This week included: • Emergency response activities
• “Drop, Cover, Hold” earthquake practice 🌎
• Tramping and outdoor safety skills
• Team challenges and group games
• Learning how to work together and support each other.
So proud of the effort, enthusiasm, and energy from all our Cubs. Ka pai everyone! 💛🐺
