Must be pretty miserable living on the streets or in a vehicle in this terrible weather.

So it is a joy to be making beautiful kai, using our locally grown produce to feed our unhomed whānau in the Hutt Valley today - alongside the kaimahi of Takari Mai Homelessness Prevention team.

Our meals go to whānau living in their vehicles, on the street/ in tents as well as to support those who Takiri have homed and now support with wrap around services to help them get on their feet.

Ngā mihi to all who support our kaupapa and help us provide aroha to our vulnerable whānau. Together we are warmer.

Join us tomorrow as we Pot Up seedlings to koha to our community. We are grateful for the support of Hutt City Council to enable us to develop this kaupapa further, to ensure as many as possible can access koha seedlings and support.
Lana will be leading the session at Kokiri Marae Pātaka Kai from 9.30 onwards. Come pot up for yourself and do some extras for the Pataka and Lower Hutt Foodbank.

These lovely humans who come together to pot up seedlings to koha to our foodbanks each week at the Kokiri Marae Pātaka Kai

We know that free seedlings enable whānau to give growing their own kai a go. We know that the price of seedlings is too much for many.
What we would like to learn from you our community is where else we can be distributing our seedlings to? Not all whānau use foodbanks but still need support. Where are the places around our city that could be a pick up zone?

Help us make a seedling distribution map to ensure our whānau gets fed, this Winter.
