Myths busted. Stomachs filled. ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿฃ๐Ÿฅง๐Ÿ‡ ๐Ÿฃ

Another fun night at Cook Strait Toastmasters!
Tonightโ€™s theme was Mythbusters, so we spent the evening questioning common myths, strange beliefs and ridiculous assumptions โ€” and, with our Word of the Day โ€œrebunk,โ€ perhaps even bringing a few of them back to life. ๐Ÿ˜‚

And judging by this table, we definitely rebunked the idea that Toastmasters is only about public speaking. Apparently, itโ€™s also about eating extremely well! ๐Ÿฃ๐Ÿฅง๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿฆ

Great speeches, plenty of laughs, great company, and a LOT of delicious food.

Our next meeting is on 13 October, and guests are always welcome!

If youโ€™d like to improve your public speaking, build confidence, meet some friendly people โ€” or just come along and see what Toastmasters is all about โ€” weโ€™d love to have you.
See you next time! โœจ

A warm welcome to our two guests, Rory and Hagen, who came along last night! ๐Ÿ‘‹

It was great to see Rory step up during our impromptu speaking session and introduce himself to the group.

And a big welcome back to Hagen, who has visited us before and this time also delivered a very entertaining speech about an unexpected visitor at home โ€” a rat! ๐Ÿ€ His story was full of humour and definitely kept the room engaged.

Thank you both for coming along. We hope you enjoyed the evening as much as we enjoyed having you there!

Our next English speaking night will be on Tuesday, 6 October. If youโ€™d like to practise your English, build confidence in public speaking, and meet a friendly group of people, feel free to come along as a guest.

Guests are always welcome! ๐ŸŽคโœจ

What a fun night at Cook Strait Toastmasters! ๐Ÿ˜„

Our theme for the evening was Dad Jokes, and the Word of the Day was โ€œwaggishโ€ โ€” meaning playful, humorous, and fond of joking.

A big thank you to Hugh for bringing plenty of dad jokes and keeping everyone entertained throughout the evening ๐Ÿ˜‚

And congratulations to our award winners:

๐Ÿ† Supreme Speaker โ€” Alan
๐Ÿ† Epic Evaluator โ€” Jainish
๐Ÿ† Terrific Toastmaster โ€” Hugh

"It always seems impossible until it's done" - Nelson Mandela

We all have 24 hours in a day and yet why is it some of us get things done while others talk a good talk, and rarely follow through? How is it that Cook Strait Toastmasters manages to get all of its volunteer Club Leaders to attend training as opposed to the minimum four?

If you're interested in developing your leadership skills, Toastmasters Pathways education can help you. We invite you as a guest to attend our next meeting Tuesday 8th September from 6:50pm at the Cockburn Chapel Kilbirnie/Lyall Bay to learn more. It costs nothing but your time to take a look and remember the words of Mandela, "it always seems impossible until it's done".
