Meet Lily, a talented basketballer who started playing because she enjoyed standing on the sidelines watching her brother 🏀

From her first game in year 4 she loved it and knew it was something she would continue with. Since then the game has become a huge part of her life, shaped by the people who have supported her along the way.

One of her proudest moments so far has been pulling on the black jersey and representing New Zealand at the U17 Oceania Cup. This year marks another exciting chapter and she heads to Texas to achieve one of her biggest goals - playing College basketball in America 🧡

In 5 years time Lily sees herself finishing her College basketball career and pursuing the WNBA or opportunities to play in Europe. Success to her is about working hard to improve, reaching basketball goals and being proud of the effort she continues to put in as both a player and a person.

All the best Lily, we are excited to follow your journey. Welcome to the Adastra whanau! ☺️

Meet Raphael, a driven young badminton athlete from Hamilton with big goals 🏸

Introduced to badminton by his parents, he’s turned his love for the sport into a journey that has already seen him become a Junior International tournament winner in Slovakia and a Junior Oceania winner 👊🏼

The sacrifices from his parents and dreams of reaching the Olympics and a World Champs title keep him motivated. To perform at his best he knows the importance of staying calm and never giving up.

As he goes through his season Raphael talks about a recent lesson he learned “Even though you are training really hard it’s still best to have fun while you are at it and enjoy time with your teammates as they make it a better experience.”

This year he is excited to travel the world and meet people from other countries. We wish you all the best Raphael. Welcome to the Adastra whanau! ☺️

Meet Kathryn, a passionate young performer from Hamilton who is on a pathway full of opportunity and creativity 🎭

From putting on performances for family as a child to stepping confidently into the world of performing arts, dance has always been a huge part of her life. With the support and guidance of her dance teacher she’s continued to challenge herself to grow into the performer she is today 💃

Already recognised with the Evan McLennan trophy for Senior Excellence in Choreography, she is now focused on pushing herself even further. In 5 years time Kathryn hopes to be dancing in a professional crew or running a dance studio.

This year she is most excited about new opportunities, new experiences and the people she is going to meet. Lots of change is happening and she’s very excited.

All the best for what’s to come Kathryn! Welcome to the Adastra whanau ☺️

Meet Hunter, a passionate basketball athlete whose journey started back in year 3 when a teacher encouraged him to give the game a go - he hasn’t looked back since 🏀

With a strong influence from his dad, who has always led by example, Hunters mindset is clear - hard work is a non-negotiable and nothing comes without it.

Surrounded by high level athletes, Hunter thrives in environments that challenge him to perform and grow. Always looking to learn, his focus is on soaking up as much knowledge as possible and trusting the preparation that’s been put in.

We can’t wait to see what’s ahead for you Hunter. Welcome to the Adastra whanau! ☺️

Welcome to Rebekah! An all-around talent in the performing arts. Musician, singer/songwriter, actor and dancer, she has and is doing it all 🎵

“I love discovering things I can do, it’s like something inside me waiting to be unlocked and I just need to find the key” she describes. With big goals in mind including a bachelors degree and music released on Spotify she is already establishing herself well in this world 🎤

High performance to Rebekah means pushing yourself to be better, allowing everything to be a learning experience. “An open mind is your greatest gift. Even the hard things grow you in ways” she says.

We look forward to following her very bright future. Welcome to the Adastra whanau Rebekah! ☺️

Welcome to Izzy! Inspired by the ballerinas she saw in her picture books as a little girl, Izzy is a very talented dancer currently studying at the New Zealand School of Dance 💃

Constantly motivated by her personal aspirations to execute choreography, she has goals of dancing with a company overseas in the future. “High performance means consistency and showing up for yourself every day” she says.

Izzy is most excited to learn about how she moves in her own style, and super grateful to work with the Adastra Foundation for 2026. We are looking forward to watching her journey through dance school and beyond. Welcome to the Adastra whanau Izzy! ☺️

Welcome to Keija! A talented basketball player at Tauranga Girls High School. She is a very driven woman who is motivated to keep working on her future goals. “I know where I want to be and I’m willing to work for it” Keija said 👊🏼 🏀

In 5 years time she’s looking to be at College in America - playing basketball, earning her degree and building something bigger for herself. Keija has represented New Zealand proudly on the basketball court and is excited for her opportunity to do the same for 2026 🖤🤍

With her family backing her all the way, they make her perform at her best! Their support allows Keija to back herself and keep working hard. All the best for this season and the many more to come. We can’t wait to follow your career. Welcome to the Adastra whanau ☺️
