The Refugee Orientation Centre Trust - ROC Refugee Orientation Centre (ROC) is a non-profit organization started in 2005 by former refugees Vision:
To provide faster and better integration.

Key Goals:
To provide an understanding of living in New Zealand. To empower refugees to become socially and economically independent. To promote themselves as assets of New Zealand. Values:
Compassion – Connecting, sharing and supporting each other and the community. Empowerment – Acquiring knowledge and attitudes that lead to faster and better integration. ROC Youth Video Podcast Training Session

Our ROC Youth Video Podcast training continued with an engaging session focused on video technology and production skills.

Young participants explored the basics of video technology, including camera use, lighting, audio, framing, and other important tools needed to create quality video content.
It was great to see our young people actively learning, sharing ideas, and building their confidence in digital media and storytelling.

That’s a wrap for our Waahine!

15 waahine from our Dari-speaking Afghan community have completed their Level 2 Food Safety certification and gained hands-on experience in a commercial kitchen under a chef.

Spring Holiday Program is Coming!

School holidays are just around the corner, and we are excited to welcome our former refugee children to another week of fun, learning, friendship and new experiences! 💛

Monday 28 September – Friday 2 October 2026

As spring begins, our holiday program will give children the opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities, build friendships, learn new skills and create happy memories together.

A Visit to Our ROC Garden!
This spring, our children will also visit the ROC International Community Garden to learn about gardening, growing food and caring for plants. They will have the opportunity to explore the garden, get their hands in the soil and discover how new life begins in spring.

For many former refugee children, these experiences are more than just holiday fun. They are opportunities to explore, feel a sense of belonging, build confidence and enjoy the freedom of childhood in Aotearoa New Zealand. 🇳🇿

At ROC Trust, we believe every child deserves a safe, welcoming and joyful holiday experience. We look forward to seeing our young people, sharing smiles and making this spring holiday special!

Mana Wāhine Collective – Seeking Future Participants!

Are you a former refugee or migrant woman in Hamilton who speaks Kinyarwanda or Spanish? Are you interested in turning your culinary heritage into a catering or hospitality career? Then our Mana Wāhine Collective is for you! Over 2 sessions, you will learn key food safety skills and earn an NZQA level 2 food safety certificate. The first session will cover theory, providing a strong food safety foundation, and the second session will include hands-on training with a professional chef in a commercial kitchen. In addition, you’ll gain a supportive community where your culture and culinary traditions are celebrated. Limited seats available.
