👋 Message from Rick Ives
Some info for everyone attending the upcoming grasskhana and dirt drags on March 8th..
Cruise will be leaving the Highway Inn on Sawyers Arms Road at 11am, alternatively there will be a cruise leaving from The Car Wars event at The Plough in Rangiora at 12pm, or you can come straight to Watties Road Amberley from 11.30am onwards.
Entry to watch and to have a go is free.
We have a toilet onsite.
Caterers and coffee van will be onsite.
The drag strip is 1/8th mile and as level as a paddock can be (farmer and staff have put a lot of time n attention into getting it the best they can) and is 4 lanes wide so lots of room if you f**k it up.
Those wanting to run their cars will be required to fill out a form on the day and cars will be required to go through scrutineering, requirements are as follows ... any cars running open headers MUST have spark arrestors, carbed cars dual return springs, and we'll be checking for fuel leaks and excessive oil leaks, the scrutineer has final say, so if he finds something wrong don't argue it.
Aliesha, myself and all those helping us will be in hi-vis vests if you need anything.
Grasskhana course is a good size one with plenty of turns for lots of sideways action.
Parking for vehicles and spectator area is huge, but remember its private property so if you cause trouble you'll be removed.
And lastly Watties Road is first on the left after Amberley (north side) you're turning off the main highway and crossing train tracks so pay attention to other traffic behind you (especially those in convoy) and look out for trains as it's an uncontrolled crossing, once on Watties Road its shingle so don't be f**kwit n rip it up you've got a big paddock to do that in.
Cheers
