☕ Morning Tea at the Library with the new Centre Manager!

Join us this Wednesday at 10:30am at Marlborough Library Te Kahu o Waipuna for a relaxed morning tea hosted by the Marlborough Multicultural Centre.

And we have some exciting news - we're thrilled to welcome Matilde Figuracion as our new Centre Manager, starting today! Many of you will already know Matilde as a familiar and dedicated face, having served as former Chair of the MMC Board. We couldn't be more excited to have her leading the Centre into this next chapter.

Come along, say kia ora, and celebrate with us over a cup of tea. Matilde will also share with us her journey, and potentially some exciting activities in the horizon. Everyone is welcome! 🌏❤️

🌸 Thank you to the Filipino community for inviting members of the Marlborough Multicultural Centre to attend Marlborough's inaugural Flores de Mayo celebration.

It was a wonderful evening filled with colour, culture, music, tradition, and community spirit. We felt privileged to share in this cherished Filipino celebration, which honours faith, family, culture, and community.

Thank you for your warm welcome and for sharing this beautiful tradition with the wider Marlborough community. Events like these help strengthen understanding, connection, and appreciation across cultures.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making this special occasion such a success. 🌺

This week is my final week as Manager of the Marlborough Multicultural Centre.

While my time with the Centre has been relatively short, I leave with a deep appreciation for the people who make this community so special. From sharing food and stories to celebrating cultures and building connections, it has been a privilege to be part of the journey.

One of my favourite memories will always be World Refugee Day – enjoying biryani, watching Colombian dancers, and seeing people from many backgrounds come together in friendship and celebration.

Thank you to everyone who has welcomed, supported, challenged, encouraged, and inspired me along the way.

I've shared a farewell message and reflections on the Centre's website, and I would also like to warmly welcome Matilde Tayawa as she steps into the manager role.

Their work focuses on:
✔ Governance training
✔ Leadership development
✔ Workshops and facilitation
✔ Supporting organisations through change and growth
Marlborough Multicultural Centre is proud to bring LEAD to Marlborough for this practical governance workshop designed specifically for community organisations.

Meet the facilitator of our governance workshop 👋
Our governance workshop will be led by Garth Nowland-Foreman from LEAD Centre for Not for Profit Governance & Leadership.
Garth has decades of experience supporting not-for-profit organisations across Aotearoa and internationally through:
• Governance training
• Leadership development
• Strategy and evaluation
• Facilitation and coaching
He has worked with organisations across New Zealand, Australia, the Pacific, and Hong Kong — and now Marlborough has the chance to learn from him locally.
If you are involved with a board, committee, trust, or community organisation, this is a rare opportunity to access high-quality governance training without leaving the region.

Community kindness in action 💚
This week we’ve been reminded again how much generosity exists across Marlborough.
A huge thank you to for donating beautiful organic feijoas to share with people under the umbrella of the Marlborough Multicultural Centre.
The feijoas disappeared pretty quickly 😄
We also helped New Zealand Red Cross receive warm toasty duvets thanks to the generosity of the Blenheim Rotary South.
With colder winter nights arriving, practical support like this makes a real difference.
Small acts of kindness add up to a stronger, more connected community. Thank you to everyone involved 🤝
