Growing up in a wealthy family in Lima in the 1950s and 60s, young Julius slowly loses his innocence as he glimpses an adult world of inequality and injustice that he can never quite make sense of. A tender, beautifully crafted drama seen through the eyes of a child.

Salvador lives alone and mostly silent in remote Patagonia, cut off from his family since a tragedy in his youth. When his brother Marcos and sister-in-law Laura arrive after their father's death to sell the land they inherited, a secret buried for years begins to stir. Tense, atmospheric and set against a stunning snowbound landscape.

Free Evening Art Programme for Newcomers 🎨

New to Marlborough? Come and explore your creative side with the Marlborough Art Society.

This free 8-week introductory art course is for migrants and newcomers. No experience needed, beginners are very welcome. It is a relaxed, supportive way to try something new and meet people in your community.

🎉 What a night! Thank you to everyone who came along to our inaugural Multicultural Night Market at Brayshaw Heritage Park on Friday!

The evening opened with a whakatuwheratanga from Paora Mackie (Rangitāne), followed by speeches from Cllr Allanah Burgess on behalf of Mayor Nadine Taylor, Dale Webb from the Marlborough Museum, and our Acting Chair Patricia Miranda-Taylor. From there the main stage lit up with a lion and dragon dance from our Chinese community, a Zumba flash mob, songs from Isabella and Skye Cruz, and a vibrant Colombian dance from Wendy Iguaran.

Alongside the programme, our food and craft stalls kept everyone fed and browsing right through to 8pm - from sizzling skewers and dumplings to cake, coconut rice balls and more, there really was something for everyone.

A massive thank-you to our stallholders, performers, volunteers, sponsors and the Brayshaw Park team for making this first Night Market such a success.
