New Lynn Lions have donated $2,000 of groceries once again to Kai Avondale. They were delivered in two lots and already most of the first lot of groceries have been disbursed and it won't be long before the second lot will disappear. If you can help them with donations they would appreciate it.

New Lynn Lions Club's Book Sale is this Saturday 12th September at New Lynn Friendship Club Hall, 3063 Great North Rd, New Lynn from 8.00 to 4.00 pm. $2 for books, DVDs, CDs, LPs, videos and jigsaw puzzles. Magazines are 5 for $2.

Huia Settlers Museum have received $5,000 from New Lynn Lions Club towards roof and floor repairs. We were delighted to help them with their very necessary repairs.

In April 2026 New Lynn Lions Club members donated $500 to Talisha Buckingham (Whangarei) as she completed the entire Te Araroa Trail from Cape Reinga to Bluff over 182 days. It was a distance of 3,207 kms and it took her from October 2025 through to April 2026 with her longest day being 12 hours of walking, 36 kms and over 50,000 steps.

She walked for the 20,000 New Zealanders living with Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, collectively known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). She chose to walk to raise awareness and funds for Crohn's and Colitis New Zealand Charitable Trust. She wanted to show others living with chronic illnesses that an exciting and adventurous life was still possible, while also recognising and respecting your own limits.

She raised over $17,000 thanks to the generosity of people, businesses and community organisations. The money will go towards campaigns, treatment outcomes and helping put on the annual Camp Purple Live summer camp. Talisha volunteered there in 2025 and it changed her life.

New Lynn Lions Club members have been happy to work with Dayspring Trust, a locally based Trust dedicated to supporting mothers and empowering wahine. They do this by providing them with safe non-judgemental space to connect with others, provide support, knowledge and tools to navigate their mental health and life's challenges.

We have donated just under $6,000 to the Trust towards signage, cupboards and toys.

Dayspring provides mental health support, counselling, and community programmes for wāhine and tamariki, including on-site crèche and support groups in Auckland.

Blind Low Vision NZ representatives spoke at a recent Zone meeting about audio books and the possibility of funding an audio book as a Zone. This costs between $3,000-$6,000 depending on the book. New Lynn Lions Club members agreed to donate $1,000 towards this cause joining other local clubs who also donated funds.

Also in June we donated $500 to Kids Can.

New Lynn Lions Club members also donated $1,000 to CCS Disability Action - Royal Oak recently. Having worked there for six months 10 years ago I can tell you this is a wonderful caring organisation. CCS Disability Action turned 90 last year and over the years has helped thousands of children and adults. They would welcome any donations.
