FORWARD Nepal convened its Strategic Planning Workshop on May 3-4, bringing together board members, management, and program staff to define our organizational direction for 2026–2030.

With the SDG deadline of 2030 approaching and Nepal's graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) status set for November 2026, this workshop marks a critical moment of strategic reflection and forward planning. FORWARD Nepal is committed to proactively positioning itself in the evolving landscape, advocating for themes of climate resilience, inclusive agricultural livelihoods, and locally-led development to feature prominently in Nepal's post-2030 development framework.

We are grateful to AWO International South Asia, whose continued trust makes spaces like this possible where strategy is shaped not just for organizations but for the communities we serve.

With 28 years of service across 64 districts and over 600,000 direct beneficiary households, FORWARD Nepal looks ahead with strategic confidence and readiness for the transitions ahead.

From a landless household in Shreenagar, Kapilvastu, 21-year-old Sarupa Kumari Mallah turned her determination into a thriving small business. With support from the improved food system project, she completed a 65-day CTEVT-certified cooking training and transformed her passion for food into a roadside hotel run together with her friend Chadani. What began with just NPR 10,000 and a few basic utensils is now a growing enterprise, boosting her confidence, income, and recognition in the community. Today, their hotel is not just a business but a safe and welcoming space for local women, inspiring others to dream bigger. “The training helped me believe in myself,” Sarupa shares, as she looks ahead to expanding and registering her business for an even brighter future.

Under the Empowering Youth Entrepreneurs through Appropriate Horticulture Interventions in Nepal (YUVA) Project, jointly implemented by FORWARD Nepal and WHH Nepal Welthungerhilfe, a one-day Bio-Pesticide Preparation Training was successfully conducted for 15 participants.

The training focused on hands-on learning. Participants actively prepared bio-pesticides and learned proper application techniques that are practical, affordable, and environmentally friendly. To ensure immediate replication at the household level, supportive materials, including EM solution, bio-pesticides, and preparation drums, were provided.

This approach goes beyond training. It equips farmers with both the skills and the necessary materials to independently produce and use bio-pesticides, reducing reliance on chemical inputs and promoting safer horticulture practices.
