Meet our two virtually adopted dogs 🐾 at Sahara Animal Care "सहारा"
A heartfelt thank you heart ❤️ to our adopters Dipika Sharma sister from Kakkadvitta and @ Shradha sister from Birtamod for your constant support and kindness. Your help brings us immense relief and encouragement as we continue striving to improve the lives of these voiceless, furry companions.

Virtual adoption is more than just a donation—it is a journey of standing beside us through every rescue, every challenge and every small victory. When you virtually adopt a dog at our shelter, you are not only supporting that one life, but also helping create space and resources for us to rescue and care for another animal in need.

Even if you are unable to adopt or bring a dog home, you can still be a part of this mission. Through virtual adoption, you become an essential part of healing and protecting animals who have no voice of their own.
Adopt. Support. Save lives. 🐶💛

This is the terrible reality we face far too often. Most of the time, these stories remain untold, but today we have chosen to share one.

One morning, we received a distress call about a puppy lying unconscious on a busy road construction site nearly 30 kilometers from Biratnagar. When we asked for a video, our hearts sank. There lay a Siberian Husky puppy, barely 5–6 months old, severely injured and helpless under the scorching Terai sun, where temperatures had crossed 37°C.

We could only imagine the agony this innocent soul had been enduring—pain, heat, fear, dehydration and abandonment.

Despite the odds, our rescue team immediately rushed from Biratnagar even when hope was fading.

When our team arrived, the road construction workers informed us that someone had brought the puppy in a jute sack, dumped him there, and left. Just left.

The puppy was rushed to our shelter for emergency care, but sadly, despite all the efforts, he passed away just when he reached the shelter.

While our team was away attending this rescue, another emergency call came in. A dog was lying on the streets of Biratnagar, struggling to breathe. From the video, it appeared to be either a severe heat stroke case or a road accident victim. We requested the informers to move the dog into the shade and provide water while our team returned.

Unfortunately, by the time we reached the location, that dog too had passed away.

How can people be so unaware—or so indifferent—that they bring a breed like the Siberian Husky, a dog evolved for snowy and cold climates, into the extreme heat of the Terai?

Who is responsible for the suffering and such painful death?

Is it the government, for failing to establish and enforce policies regarding the breeding, sale and ownership of climate-sensitive breeds?

Is it the breeders, who in pursuit of profit, continue producing and selling animals without properly educating buyers about the immense responsibility and special care these breeds require?

Or is it the buyers themselves, who often have every means to do basic research but choose animals based on appearance, trends or social status rather than suitability and welfare?

Animals are not fashion accessories.
They are not status symbols.
They are not showpieces.
What hurts even more is that many of these animals are cherished when they are cute and convenient but when they become difficult, expensive or no longer serve their owners' desires, they are abandoned—discarded as if their lives never mattered.

A society's humanity is reflected in how it treats its most vulnerable members. When innocent animals are allowed to suffer and die in such heartbreaking ways, it forces us to question not only our laws and systems, but also our responsibility and civic sense.

This Husky puppy deserved better.
The dog on the street deserved better but even we were just as helpless due to shortage of manpower and resources.

And unless we start acknowledging our role in these tragedies, countless more animals will continue to suffer the same fate.

Please think before you buy.
Please research before you adopt.
Please be responsible for the lives you choose to bring into your homes.

Because for animals, human ignorance is often a death sentence.

A Birthday Celebration Filled with Compassion 💝🎂
On the special occasion of her birthday, our beautiful Shreya Soni sister along with her wonderful parents chose to celebrate by giving hope and healing to animals in need.

Shreya generously donated Nrs. 10,000/- towards the treatment of dogs suffering from Canine Transmissible Venereal Tumor (CTVT) who are currently undergoing chemotherapy at Sahara Animal Care "सहारा"
Her thoughtful contribution will help provide life-saving treatment and care to animals battling pain and suffering, bringing them one step closer to recovery and a better life.

Adding to this beautiful act of kindness, Sh*tal Sarda Soni Ma'am sponsored a special meal for all our shelter babies in loving memory of Oscar, her beloved pet dog who crossed the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈🐾 Through this heartfelt gesture, Oscar's love continues to live on, touching the lives of many animals who need care and compassion.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Shreya and her family for inspiring us all with their generosity and empathy.

Happy Birthday, Shreya! 🎉 We wish you good health, endless happiness, success, and a life filled with love, laughter, and countless blessings.
❤️ Compassion is the greatest gift we can give. 🐾 Every life matters. 🌎 A kinder world begins with small acts of love.

Animal Birth Control Camp @ Sahara Animal Care "सहारा"
Released on 4th and 5th post operative day.
Goodbyes are never easy ❤️

03/06/2026

Today, within the premises of Singha Durbar, we found 6–7 friendly community dogs sitting calmly and playing among themselves. However, we later learned that they had not been fed for the past two days because the canteen they relied on for food had been permanently closed. We were also informed that the remaining canteens within the Singha Durbar premises are planned to be closed in the near future.

Concerned, we went to a nearby shop outside the premises and purchased several packets of biscuits and water pots. As soon as we offered the food, the dogs eagerly consumed large quantities, clearly indicating that they were both hungry and thirsty, as can be seen in the video.

We respectfully request the Government of Nepal and the concerned authorities to establish designated feeding zones within the Singha Durbar premises and take responsibility for ensuring that these animals have access to food and water. These furry friends are currently friendly and peaceful despite having gone hungry for two days. However, prolonged hunger can lead to stress, irritability, fights among the dogs, and even an increased risk of dog bites.
Relocation is not a practical solution. Community dogs cannot simply move into other territories in search of food other street dogs will not tolerate new ones in their territory.

These animals are part of the Singha Durbar community as they have lived there for years.

We therefore urge our Government and the authorities to temporarily halt the closure of the remaining canteens until proper arrangements are made for the feeding and care of these voiceless beings.

A humane and sustainable solution is needed urgently to ensure both animal welfare and public safety.

Let us not forget that compassion towards the most vulnerable members of our community reflects the values of a civilized society.

Animal Birth Control (ABC) campaigns are the most humane and effective way to manage community dog populations and prevent future suffering. By preventing the birth of unwanted puppies, ABC programs help reduce hunger, disease, abuse, road traffic accidents, and other hardships that countless dogs face every day. Every dog deserves a life free from unnecessary suffering, and humane spay-neuter programs are a vital step toward achieving that goal. ❤️🐾

Humane Spay/Neuter (Animal Birth Control) campaigns are the only effective long-term solution to reduce the suffering of street dogs. They help prevent uncontrolled breeding, reduce human–animal conflict, animal–animal conflict, and even community disputes related to stray dog populations.
Whether you love street dogs or dislike them, the humane solution is the same: Spay and Neuter.
