Today, we celebrate the strength, courage and leadership of girls around the world under the theme "The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis." We recognize the fact that while girls' are shaping a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world from classrooms to communities, from innovation to advocacy across the globe, in underserved communities particularly in Nigeria the story is different. Lack of access to education, sexual and reproductive health, and rights, climate change, gender based violence among others have continued to increase the rate of child marriage.

In reaffirmation of our commitment to empowering the girl child to fulfill her potentials, Equity Watch Initiative (E-WIN) has continued to be in the frontline to ensure girls access to education, SRHR, raising climate champions, and working to reduce gender based violence and child marriage. As part of our celebration of International Day of the Girl Child, we distributed pads, school uniforms, books and other writing materials to young girls at Community Model Secondary School, Umuome, Ezza North, Ebonyi State. We believe that when you empower a girl, you empower a generation.

Let’s invest in rewriting the narratives by equipping girls to thrive, to stand on the frontlines of change and build a future where equality is not just a dream but a reality.

Together, we can amplify their power, protect their rights, and support their leadership in every sphere. Join us to act now!

Most women in Nigerian society are confronted by violence. Violence ranges in various forms and is illustrated in the figure below. It is a threat to the growth, development and stability of women which in turn have a ripple effect to her environment and society at large.

However, this issue can be addressed by mitigating violence and creating a peaceful environment where every woman can move freely, secured, discover her potentials, unleash her abilities and thrive in her environment. This would facilitate her effectiveness and make her valuable in building and contributing to a sustainable society.

Every woman has the seed of great potentials that can rebuild Nigeria and beyond.

By saying no to violence with actionable steps, we are not just supporting women but we are building a sustainable legacy.

You can also share with us the existing and predominant violence in your area.

Happy Independence Day, Nigeria! 🇳🇬

As we commemorate the freedom and resilience of our beloved nation, let us also remember that true independence is incomplete without gender equality.

We call on every Nigerian to stand for a country where women and girls are protected from discrimination, free from violence, and empowered to contribute fully to national growth and sustainable development.

Together, we can build the Nigeria we dream of just, inclusive, and prosperous for all.

Dear women and girls,

They say you can “cook your way to a man’s heart.” But did you know you can also cook your way to global recognition?

Ask Hilda Baci, her passion for cooking earned her a Guinness World Record and international recognition.

Looking at Chimamanda Adichie, she refined her writing skills and became a global voice for literature and equality.

The lesson? Whether it’s cooking, writing, technology, art, or advocacy, your skills can open doors to relevance and global impact.

At Equity Watch Initiative, we believe every girl and woman deserves the opportunity to nurture her gifts and shine.

What skill are you refining this week?

Globally, most women and girls suffer from Polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS) as a result of lack of awareness. PCOS is a common hormonal disorder that affects women and girls of reproductive age.

At Equity Watch Initiative, we believe that every young girl and women deserves access to knowledge, support, and care.

In this month of September which is an awareness month for PCOS, join us and let us break the silence and empower women with knowledge.
