Equity Watch Initiative in partnership with the Breaking The Silence: WACOL/Tamar SARC recently embarked on targeted advocacy visits across Enugu North Senatorial Zone for Gender-Based Violence ( ) prevention and institutional .

During this round of , we held strategic dialogues with key custodians of and faith, with the recognition that community-led protection, equity and inclusion starts at the grassroots. Our engagement with H.R.H. Igwe Ikebuokwu Ekweme of Amutenyi, Obollo Afor & his cabinet members, and the executives of Catholic Women organization St Joseph Parish Amutenyi was .

Promoting human , dismantling practices, and community level justice mechanisms for and is at the root of community development. Mobilizing faith-based women who stand on the frontline of community awareness, support networks, and social reform remains paramount.

Earlier this August, Equity Watch Initiative in partnership with Breaking The Silence: WACOL/Tamar SARC , took to the airwaves on Nigeria, Voice FM Nsukka for a special phone-in radio program to welcome all women home for the 2026 Women .

This campaign served as a crucial wake-up call to address the prevailing issues of (GBV), particularly within the Enugu North Senatorial Zone.

The annual August Meeting is more than a gathering—it is a powerful platform for action. We called on every woman, community leaders, and stakeholders to leverage this year’s assembly to:

1. Speak out and push for concrete measures to prevent GBV in our communities.

2. Hold local institutions accountable to ensure inclusive governance, justice, protection, and adequate support for survivors.

3. Break the silence, shatter the stigma, and foster safer environments for women and girls everywhere.

4. Promote self care and reduce occupational hazards especially for women that are exposed to carbon emissions in the cause of their daily struggle for livelihood.

Equity Watch Initiative in partnership with Girls Opportunity Alliance recently conducted an intensive Defense (ESD) training for adolescent girls in Udenu LGA. These girls stepped into their power, built unshakeable confidence, and mastered vital tools for boundary-setting, situational awareness, and personal safety.

​Investing in girls' safety is investing in safer and stronger communities. Seeing their energy, resilience, and solidarity throughout this program was really inspiring.

Equity Watch Initiative (E-WIN ) is proud to partner with the University of Chicago on a project titled religion and female empowerment. The project is focused on the unique role and responsibilities of Ezenwanyis (traditional female spiritual leaders) among the Igbo in Nigeria and how the institution shapes women's lives.

​We are honored to have this initiative led by internationally renowned economist, Nobel Laureate, and the author of *Why Nations Fail*, Prof. James A. Robinson and his team.

​Following insightful focus group discussions with the Ezenwanyis in Nsukka, we officially conducted a 2-day training workshop that ended yesterday for our dedicated field enumerators. Now certified and equipped, our team is ready to head into the field to collect vital data that will elevate local voices and enrich global discourse.

Menstrual education is a essential component of educational and girls' .

​In this episode, Equity Watch Initiative with the generous support of Girls Opportunity Alliance took her Menstrual Health Education and Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) outreach to the students of Girls Secondary School, Owere-Eze Orba in Udenu LGA.

​We spent the day breaking taboos, answering questions, and equipping the young girls with the knowledge they need to manage their periods , , and with .

To ensure no girl misses school because of her , we distributed both reusable and disposable sanitary pads to the students.

​Providing options like sustainable reusable pads alongside disposable ones—ensures that every girl has a solution that works best for her circumstances.
​When we support girls' health, we keep them in school and unlock their full potential.
