We are delighted to celebrate a significant milestone as the Kogi State Government inaugurates the 21-member State Consultative Committee on Statistics (SCCS), a strategic body established to strengthen statistical coordination and support the effective implementation of the State’s 32-year Development Plan.

Challenged Parenthood Initiative (CPI) is especially honoured that our Executive Director Ms. Eunice Abimbola Agbogun, was inaugurated as one of the members of the committee, representing a strong recognition of the importance of inclusive development, data-driven planning, and multi-sector collaboration.

The committee is expected to play a vital role in improving statistical data collection, coordination, and planning processes across the state to ensure sustainable growth and informed decision-making.

We congratulate all inaugurated members and look forward to contributing meaningfully towards a more inclusive and data-informed Kogi State.

Today, on the International Day of the Boy Child, we celebrate the strength, dreams, voices, and potential of every boy child.

Boys deserve to be seen, heard, guided, protected, and empowered to become responsible men who will shape a better society tomorrow.

At Challenged Parenthood Initiative, we believe that investing in boys today means investing in safer communities, stronger families, and a brighter future for all. When we teach boys empathy, leadership, responsibility, and confidence, we raise men who will positively influence the world around them.

Let us raise boys who are emotionally healthy, respectful, educated, and purpose-driven.

The future we desire begins with the boys we nurture today.

Happy International Day of the Boy Child.

For the people of Ganaja, flooding is more than a seasonal disaster, it is a recurring crisis that continues to affect homes, livelihoods, healthcare, education, and access to basic necessities.

Over the past months, Challenge Parenthood Initiative (CPI), with support from Heinrich Böll Stiftung (HBS) and Arctic Infrastructure (AI), has been working closely with the Ganaja community to ensure their voices are heard and their needs prioritized through sustained advocacy and stakeholder engagement.

As part of this effort, CPI and the community representatives carried out follow-up advocacy visits to both the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) and the Nigeria Climate Adaptation, Erosion and Watershed Project (NEWMAP) in Kogi State.

During the engagements, the delegation presented key demands captured in the Ganaja Charter of Demand and Flood Resilience Action Plan.

The visits recorded encouraging commitments from both agencies. While N-HYPPADEC reaffirmed its commitment to providing potable water for the community, NEWMAP announced immediate intervention through the provision of life jackets and further technical assessments for water infrastructure in the community.

These engagements represent more than meetings, they are part of a broader movement toward building safer, more resilient communities where vulnerable residents are not left behind in decisions that affect their future.

At CPI, we remain committed to community-driven advocacy, accountability, and sustainable solutions that improve the lives of people most affected by climate-related disasters.

Your Voice Matters! Your Vote Counts!

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the Third Phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, scheduled to hold from 11th May to 10th July, 2026.

This is a call to every eligible Nigerian, especially WOMEN, to step forward, register, and collect your Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC). Women’s participation in politics and decision-making is essential for inclusive governance and stronger communities.

If you are:
✅ 18 years and above
✅ Yet to register
✅ Need to transfer your voter registration
✅ Need correction or replacement of your PVC

Now is the time to act.

Don’t just complain about leadership, participate in choosing it. Let our voices be seen, heard, and counted at the polls.

Together, we can build a future where we actively shape governance and democratic processes.

The Road to 2027: Key Election Milestones & Deadlines

As preparations for the 2027 General Elections continue, stakeholders are tracking key timelines released by INEC Nigeria that are shaping the electoral roadmap.

As at May 12, 2026, five political parties (APC, ADC, LP, APGA, and PDP) have published date-specific primary schedules.

The APC will hold primaries from May 15–23, beginning with the House of Representatives (May 15), Senate (May 18), State House of Assembly (May 20), governorship (May 21), and presidential primary on May 23, 2026.

The ADC has scheduled National Assembly and State House of Assembly primaries for May 21, governorship on May 22, and presidential primary on May 23, 2026.

The Labour Party (LP) will conduct State House of Assembly and governorship primaries on May 27, and National Assembly and presidential primaries on May 29, 2026.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has fixed all primaries for May 23, 2026.

Within the PDP, parallel timelines persist: the Wike-aligned faction holds its presidential primary for May 17–18, 2026, followed by House of Representatives primaries on May 21, Senate primaries on May 23, State House of Assembly primaries on May 25, and governorship primaries on May 27, 2026.

In contrast, the Turaki-led faction has scheduled ward primaries for all offices on May 27, with appeals on May 28, 2026.

As political parties, aspirants, and citizens begin positioning for the next electoral cycle, tracking these deadlines remains critical to understanding how the process unfolds and what to expect in the months ahead.

Back on the field in Ganaja.

Following earlier research, community and stakeholder engagement, we returned to the Nyama Nyama Road this time alongside NEWMAP, who have shown interest in supporting solutions in this area.

For many residents, this road is more than a pathway it’s a lifeline, especially during flooding.
Seeing the reality firsthand is a crucial step toward meaningful intervention.

From advocacy to action… we move!!

TO EVERY WORKER OUT THERE

You show up. You push through. You make society better.

Whether you protect the vulnerable, teach in classrooms, work in hospitals, build our roads, or serve families your labour matters.

On this Workers’ Day, we celebrate your strength, sacrifice, and service to humanity.

Rest. Reflect. Recharge.
You deserve it.

Happy Workers’ Day!
