📸 Frames of Impact: When it all comes together
Another PIN work anniversary means another story from the journey - the moments, lessons and people that make the work what it is. In this edition of Frames of Impact, Communications Officer, Giyo shares a story behind a key moment for him in the organisation.
“This image takes me back to one of my many PIN baptisms. It was at the 2024 Digital Rights and Inclusion Forum (DRIF24) in Accra, Ghana.
The tired look on my face is nothing close to what was in my heart. I was filled with amazement, stunned to the core at how well the team managed to put the pieces together.
There were deadlines, moving pieces, last-minute changes, endless conversations and plenty of moments when you wondered whether everything would actually come together. The venue was hardly even ready a few hours before. What I remember most is the strange blend of exhaustion and amazement that followed. Watching the team move from one task to another, pick up the pieces, fill the gaps and keep things moving almost seamlessly, you would think we had been doing it forever.
But behind that ease was a lot of work: people thinking ahead, stepping in for one another, solving problems quietly and staying focused on the bigger picture. The work is demanding, sometimes messy, occasionally exhausting, but there is something special about watching all those pieces finally fit - the same way you eat an elephant conveniently when armed with a fork and many of your friends.
