Sayyids are found across India, especially in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana, Kashmir, and parts of Maharashtra and Karnataka. Most follow Sunni Islam, while some belong to Shia traditions. Religious scholarship, leadership, and preservation of Islamic heritage are often valued among Sayyid families.

Many Sayyids are involved in education, religious institutions, business, law, and public service. Family identity, spiritual heritage, and social respect remain important aspects of community life.
