Technology should work for everyone including Deaf people.

Too often, Deaf people are excluded from conversations, classrooms, workplaces, and digital spaces simply because accessibility was not considered.

Something as simple as captions, speech-to-text, sign language video calls, visual alerts, or accessible websites can make a huge difference.

Accessibility is not a luxury or an afterthought.
It is what makes equal participation possible.

Inclusion starts when we design technology with everyone in mind, not just some people.

No one should be left behind because of disability.

Recently, we joined the International Women’s Day celebration organized by the Abuja Association of the Deaf Women Section, and honestly, it was beautiful to witness.

The room was filled with strong Deaf women sharing experiences, encouraging one another, learning, laughing, and reminding everyone that disability does not reduce potential.

As Tech Inclusion for the Deaf Initiative, we were proud to be part of it. The theme, “Give to Gain,” hit differently. Sometimes giving support, knowledge, opportunities, or even simple encouragement can completely change someone’s future.

The conversations around mental health, self-reliance, and entrepreneurship stood out for many people. Women spoke openly about challenges, growth, survival, and the need for more opportunities instead of pity. Real conversations. Real experiences.

And this is something we want to continue. TIDI is preparing future programs focused on empowering Deaf women and girls through technology, digital skills, mentorship, leadership, and entrepreneurship. There is still a lot to do, but we are committed to creating spaces where Deaf women can grow, lead, and be seen.

Big appreciation to the organizers and everyone who made the event meaningful.

‎TIDI at the National Deaf Women Summit 2026

‎The Tech Inclusion for the Deaf Initiative (TIDI) was honored to partner with the Nigerian National Association of the Deaf (NNAD), Women Section, in collaboration with Sound Sense Deaf Empowerment Initiative, in celebrating the 2026 National Deaf Women Summit in commemoration of International Women’s Day.

‎We sincerely appreciate the invitation and the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful and impactful gathering focused on advancing inclusivity for Deaf women and girls.

‎As part of our commitment to accessibility and inclusion, TIDI provided technical coordination and support, ensuring seamless participation for both physical and virtual attendees.

‎A key highlight of the event was the participation of Guest Speaker by Hanna Moshen Ebrahim Aly , The National President of Arab Association of the Deaf, Cairo-Egypt, who joined the summit virtually through Zoom.
‎To ensure effective communication and accessibility, we supported:
‎✅ Live virtual presentation setup
‎✅ Closed caption (CC) enablement
‎✅ Backup technical solutions to prevent disruption

‎This reflects TIDI’s mission to bridge the gap between technology and accessibility for the Deaf community.

‎During the event, a goodwill message was delivered on behalf of TIDI, emphasizing that:

‎“Inclusion is not charity. It is a human right.”

‎We highlighted the urgent need to:

‎- Expand access to education for Deaf women and girls
‎- Promote digital inclusion and accessible technology
‎- Empower Deaf women as leaders, innovators, and professionals

‎We also reinforced a powerful message:

‎"When you empower a Deaf woman, you empower the next generation"

‎The summit served as a strong call to action for government, NGOs, and private sector stakeholders to invest in inclusive systems and opportunities for Deaf women and girls.

‎TIDI remains committed to building partnerships that drive real impact, accessibility, and inclusive innovation.
