Last week, we welcomed Dr. Ayoola Arowolo arowolo Founder of Data-Lead Africa and Deaf-In-Tech and member of his team in our office on a courtesy visit.

We had a meaningful conversation with our CEO, Mr. Abubakar Mumbu Idris, Mrs. Hellen Beyioku-Alase, Executive Director of Deaf Women Aloud Initiative, alongside TIDI teams about how Deaf-led tech organisations in Nigeria and across Africa can work more closely together.

Dr. Ayoola also encouraged us to keep building on TIDI’s work in STEM education and digital skills for Deaf children and young people.

We are grateful for their courtesy visit, encouragement and support.

Two days into the TIDI Deaf Kids Tech Bootcamp, our learners are growing more confident with computers.

Guided by Deaf instructors, they are learning through Nigerian Sign Language, clear visual explanations and hands-on demonstrations.

They explored what a computer is, its main parts, input, processing and output, as well as hardware and software.

Their questions, participation and excitement show what is possible when Deaf children learn from instructors who understand their language and lived experience.

This is only the beginning, but their confidence is already growing.

‎On July 11, Saturday , TIDI had a small gathering with Deaf youth, community leaders, and technology advocates at Millennium Park, Abuja.
