Reforming Lives Through Skills 🧠✨

Today, Secure The Future International Initiative (SDF) had the privilege of participating in the Trade Test Certificates and Products Exhibition organised by the Nigerian Correctional Service Nigeria Correctional Service, FCT Commands
At Parade Ground, Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje, FCT

The exhibition showcased the incredible skills and talents developed through rehabilitation and vocational training, including:

🎨 Artistic Textile
💈 Barbing
🧢 Cap Making
👗 Fashion Design
🪑 Furniture Making
🧱 Tiling & Building Technology
👜 Bag Making
💄 Cosmetic Production
🐟 Fishery & Poultry
💻 ICT Education
👞 Shoe Making
☀️ Solar Installation

What touched us most was seeing how rehabilitation goes beyond learning a trade. Some of the inmates have continued their education and achieved remarkable milestones.

One inspiring story was that of a young man who entered the correctional facility with only a WAEC certificate. Today, he has completed his Master’s degree and is preparing to pursue a PhD, while also done with developing valuable vocational skills.

His story is a powerful reminder that the mind is our greatest weapon, and being behind bars does not have to limit the human spirit.

Rehabilitation is growth. Education is transformation. Skills create opportunities.

Sometimes, even with physical freedom, a person’s mind can still be in prison. That is why creating opportunities for learning, healing, skills development and reintegration matters.

👏 We commend the Nigeria Correctional Service, FCT Command for investing in rehabilitation and empowering individuals to build better futures.

If you would like to support these efforts, you can patronise the products and services produced by the trainees/inmates and help create a pathway from skills to sustainable reintegration.

Support rehabilitation. Support skills. Support second chances.
