Lucky Dog needs your help to save all the dogs that arrive at our door. Some of the things we do are spay/neuters, emergency services, long term recovery care, and special foods and medicines. Your generous donation can empower us to help more of these sweet dogs that desperately need our help. When you adopt from Lucky Dog, the puppy/dog will have been vet checked on a regular basis, de-wormed, vaccinated and dogs over 6 months old will have been spayed or neutered.

🐾 MEET MANCHAS… OUR NEWEST LUCKY DOG! 🐾

What a difference a day can make. ❤️

Manchas arrived at Lucky Dog yesterday afternoon. After a restless first night at the shelter, it became pretty clear that this little girl would do much better in a foster home.

So today, Manchas hit the road. 🚗🐶

First stop: a visit with Dr. Alma, where she got a clean bill of health and a vaccination. She’ll need to be spayed in the next week or so, but otherwise this 2½-year-old Chihuahua mix is ready to start looking for her family.

And since we had a little time to kill before heading to her foster home, we decided to see what else we could learn about our newest Lucky Dog.

Turns out… quite a lot. 😍

🏠 She hung out at the house, watched a little TV and met the resident dogs. She is an EXCELLENT dog greeter.

❤️ She seems to have been a little starved for affection, because she absolutely soaks up attention from kind humans.

🚶‍♀️ A quick stop at the bank revealed another surprise: this girl is leash trained! She walks beautifully.

🏦 Her banking skills are also exceptional. 😂 There were several other dogs there, which apparently made her wonder exactly what kind of bank we had brought her to, but her manners were fantastic.

🚗 And in the car? Total little copilot. She decided the best seat was on Colleen’s lap, where she could supervise the driving and offer navigational advice. 😉

Finally, we delivered her to her wonderful foster mom, Ximena, where she can decompress, get lots of love and show us even more of who she is.

But based on what we saw today?

We have a feeling Manchas may not be on the market for very long. 🥰

🏖David and Maria took Nate on an adventure!! 🚗

Off to the lake he went for the day. And, what did we learn???✅️ We can officially confirm that Nate is an excellent adventure buddy. 🐶🤍

It was unbelievable how well Nate did! Aside from having a great time, he was super obedient and sweet, stayed right by our side even without a leash, and even made some new friends. 🤭

Nate is ready to find his person and explore the world by their side. 🐾

The likes, comments, and shares on the posts on our dogs has been slowing lately.

And we get it. We post a lot of dogs. 🐶 It can feel repetitive to like, comment, and share day after day.

But here’s why we hope you’ll keep doing it. ❤️

Every click gives one of our dogs a little more exposure and another opportunity to land in front of someone who might be looking for exactly that dog.

Facebook’s algorithm can be a mysterious little creature. 🤷‍♀️ Sometimes a post suddenly takes off and reaches people we never expected it to reach. 📢

And somewhere in that new audience might be the person who takes one look at Beau, Luisa, Zorro, Chad, Cher, Ollie, Daisy or one of our other Lucky Dogs and thinks:

“That’s my dog.” 🥹🐾

📢Let’s meet the man who REALLY make the Lucky Dog world go around! 🌎

Today we want to pay a very special tribute to the person who is truly the heart of Lucky Dog! 🐾❤️

This is Valentín, and for the past 7 years he has been an irreplaceable part of our shelter.

From early in the morning until the end of the day, Valentín is responsible for feeding our rescued dogs, but what he does goes far beyond that. WAY BEYOND! 🌟

He does absolutely everything to keep this place running and make sure the dogs are well cared for. 🛠️🍲

It’s no secret that the dogs listen to him more than anyone else. They have a unique connection with his voice and the way he cares for them. The moment they see him, they completely change. 💯

Valentín, thank you for your dedication every single day, your patience, and your unconditional love throughout all these years. ❤️

Everyone at Lucky Dog, both two-legged and four-legged, loves you and admires you deeply.

You truly are an angel to them and US! 🌟🐶

🐾 Meet Our Amazing Volunteers! 🐕

Today we'd like to introduce you to Neri Navarro, who joined the Lucky Dog family about three months ago, at the end of May.

Neri lives right here in Riberas del Pilar and also serves the Chapala community with her talents as a graphic designer! 🎨🇲🇽

Neri loves dedicating some of her time to our furry friends, and right now, her favorite buddy at the shelter is the adorable Zorro.

She shares what makes spending time with him so special:
❤️ "Zorro is extremely affectionate and always happy. Walks with him are so peaceful because he's excellent on leash and never pulls. We can walk a long way, he never seems to get tired, and he's super obedient. He definitely always wants to be the one getting all the love and attention." 🥰🦮

And for anyone considering joining the team, or opening their heart to a senior dog, Neri has an important message:
🐶 "Adult dogs can give you just as much love, if not more, than puppies. The dogs at Lucky Dog are very well behaved, which makes it easy for them to adapt both to new volunteers and eventually to their future homes." ❤️

💕 How do you spell adorable...M-A-N-D-Y 😍

Mandy is now 9 weeks old and absolutely thriving in her foster home. She’s been playing with the neighborhood kids, loves everyone she meets, and is just a happy little bundle of puppy love. 🐶

Now we’re looking for the family who will make her one of their own and give her everything she needs to grow into the shining little star she’s already proving to be. ✨
