It is with great sadness that we share the news that David Read passed away on Thursday 7th May.

David was a huge supporter of the British Residents Association and a much-valued member of our community. He attended many of our events, regularly provided photographs for the newsletter, he was also a familiar and welcome face at the library.

David was a kind and gentle man, always willing to help others and a friend to everyone who knew him. He will be sadly missed by us all.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences go to his wife Pauline and all of his family at this very sad time.

Sliema/St Julian’s Chairman, Nick Holland, was honoured to attend the ANZAC Day Commemorative Wreath Laying Service in the presence of H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta.

The service paid tribute to the Australians and New Zealanders who gave their lives at Gallipoli in 1915, and to all those who have served in conflicts and peacekeeping missions since. It also acknowledged Malta’s vital role as the "Nurse of the Mediterranean".

A special thank you to Her Excellency for judging our (very competitive!) Easter Bonnet Competition 🐣🎩 — and congratulations once again to Pauline Williams on her winning creation!

We truly appreciate your time, support, and engagement with our community. We hope to welcome you back again soon 😊

For Every Kind of Mother on UK Mother's Day

A mother is not only the one
who first held your tiny hand,
she is every heart that stayed beside you
and helped you learn to stand.
She might be the voice that soothed the night,
the hug that calmed your fears,
the quiet strength beside you
through the tender growing years.

Some mothers give life to a child,
some choose a child to love,
some guide, protect and nurture
like a gift sent from above.
Some are grandmothers, sisters, friends,
step-mums with patient care,
foster mums, chosen families —
love grows wherever hearts dare.

Some mothers watch from heaven now,
their lessons still remain,
in every kindness we pass on,
in sunshine after rain.
So today we honour every soul
whose love helped someone grow —
for motherhood is not just birth,
it's the love we choose to show.

Happy Mother’s Day to every kind of mum. 🌷
