SOS Malta is a Maltese-registered Voluntary Organisation set up in 1991, which aims to aid people experiencing times of crisis and to empower them by providing support services and opportunities to implement development and change in their country. SOS Malta works with local and international organisations to assist socially disadvantaged groups in improving their quality of life. It encourages ad

vocacy on behalf of social causes as well as promotes models of good care and practice. SOS Malta initially started working in overseas development, emergency relief and livelihood programmes. While maintaining these overseas areas of activity, the organisation over time developed other areas of activities, having more of a local dimension, including a focus on volunteering and integration. SOS Malta works on 4 pillars: Overseas Development; Social Integration; Research and Training; and, Volunteering. For more details go to www.sosmalta.org

Training only helps if people can actually use it when it counts. ASIST goes beyond awareness. It's two days, face to face, where you practise recognising suicidal thoughts, having the conversation, and helping someone find safety and support. It also counts towards 13 hours of CPD. Studies have found that people who complete ASIST go on to use these skills in real situations. That's what this training is built on, and thatโ€™s why itโ€™s so important.

ASIST is an evidence-based suicide-intervention training programme, listed in the Su***de Prevention Resource Center's Best Practices Registry under "Empirically-Defined Evidence." School staff and educators are often the first to notice when a student is struggling. The same is true in high-pressure, competitive workplaces, where falling behind is easy to hide behind a closed door or a good front. ASIST works in both worlds. It gives you the skills to notice, ask, and help someone find their way back, whether that's in a classroom or under a work deadline.

Training will take place on the 14th and 15th September in Malta and 17th and 18th September in Gozo.

Registration is open.
