クメール伝統織物研究所（IKTT）は、森本喜久男氏によって立ち上げられ、カンボジアの内戦で失われた伝統的絹織物の復興を行っている。織物の本質的な復活のため、土地を耕し、桑を育て、養蚕をし、染め材となる草木を栽培し、糸を染め、織りをする「伝統の森」という村を現地の人々と力を合わせ築いている。そこでは150人もの人々が暮らしを営んでいる。織物の素材や食べ物は自給しているが、エネルギーの自給が目下の課題であるため、伝統的な水車の技術を復活させることで電力自給を試みるプロジェクトを開始します。
The Institute for Khmer Traditional Textiles (IKTT), established by Mr. Kikuo MORIMOTO, has been reviving traditional silk textiles in Cambodia which kno
wledge was lost during the civil war. A village and forest was formed to produce not only final product, but row materials, mulberry trees, silk worms and natural dyes. Over 150 villagers work and sustain their livelihood in the IKTT Traditional Village. The village is self-sufficient in food and materials for textiles but not in electricity. This project aims at making this village self-sufficient in power combining modern technology and traditional waterwheel.
