What health issues matter most to Member States of the World Health Organization (Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office) Region and what are we doing about them?

The answers to these questions go to the heart of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean .

From 13-15 October, countries from across the Region are coming together to discuss the health issues that affect millions of people, from the cost of health care and access to medicines, to mental health, disease elimination, health emergencies and stronger health systems for all.

Countries will share what is working, discuss the challenges they face and agree on priorities and actions for the year ahead.

These conversations matter because the decisions made here can shape how health services are delivered, how countries prepare for emergencies and how people get the care they need.

Only one in ten countries has fully transitioned from institutional to community-based mental health care.
The shift towards community-based care means strengthening mental health services that place individuals—along with their needs and rights—at the heart of care.
