The International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, founded in 1987 as a project of UNIDO, became an autonomous International Organization in 1994 and now has over 60 Member States. Its laboratories in Trieste, Italy, New Delhi, India and Cape Town, South Africa constitute a centre of excellence for research, training and technology transfer to industry in the field of biotechnology to promote sustainable global development.

In September, ICGEB held a series of awareness workshops for Member State Liaison Officers, with updated guidelines for funding opportunities and tips for increasing countries' successful applications to the ICGEB programmes.
The workshops gave Liaison Officers a valuable chance to connect with peers within world regions, exchange experiences, and address issues of regional relevance for researchers applying to ICGEB programmes.
An important step toward expanding access and fostering scientific collaboration across ICGEB Member States🌍
