Those are often the most necessary.

Some of the most urgent stories of our time are written in landscapes, in water, in the transformation of ecosystems. 🍃

At the Festival of Ethical Photography, we believe documentary photography has a responsibility to witness the environmental crisis: communities displaced, species disappearing, territories wounded by extraction and climate change.

Every year, we bring to Lodi the work of photographers who spend months, sometimes years, in the field documenting the loss of biodiversity, the erosion of indigenous knowledge, and the struggles of the earth guardians who protect and defend their territories. They make visible what is too easy to ignore.

According to the IPBES Global Assessment — the United Nations’ scientific panel on biodiversity — around one million animal and plant species are now threatened with extinction, many within decades. The window is closing. Through the work of these photographers, we can understand what is truly at stake and fight to preserve Mother Earth 🌍 for future generations.

✨ Because images change the way we see.
And seeing is the first act of change.🌱

On this World Environment Day, let’s celebrate some of the photographers whose extraordinary work has been exhibited at the Festival over the last 16 years.

✨✨✨Open Call for the Nonprofit world - Selected NGOs 🎉🎉🎉

Since its very first edition in 2010, the Festival of Ethical Photography has believed that photography is a vital tool in communicating the reality of social injustice around the world. And from day one, we have stood beside those photographers who amplify the nonprofit organizations’ work.

The Open Call for the Nonprofits is an invitation to use the Festival’s platform — its audiences, networks, and reach — to amplify the work of national and international organizations whose missions are as diverse as the communities they serve: humanitarian aid, education, healthcare, human rights, social inclusion, environmental protection, and the safeguarding of Indigenous communities and Earth guardians.

Every year, the jury selects some projects from hundreds of submissions, celebrating the crucial work of aid workers and organizations whose contribution to improving people’s lives is invaluable. These are people who go where the need is greatest — close to home and far away — and choose to help.

🌎 We look forward to seeing you in Lodi from September 26th to October 25th, 2026, to learn more about these projects and many others that will be exhibited, meet the photographers, and experience together the 17th annual edition of the Festival of Ethical Photography.
