“ATTENTION AU CHIEN!”
Special Workshop with Tout Terrain & Nicolas Depoutot.

It is often said that the dog is humankind’s best friend. In Santo Pietro, as in many other places across Sicily, stray dogs share spaces and everyday life with people, sometimes in positive ways, sometimes in more challenging ones.

We will undertake a multifaceted practice-based research project on the physical and symbolic presence of dogs in Santo Pietro, potentially leading to the creation of site-specific installations.

The project will explore the place that has been assigned to dogs, as well as the space they have been able to occupy, both in the reality and in the collective imagination of Santo Pietro.

Tout Terrain is an architecture and urban planning cooperative that develops a social and ecological approach grounded in a cultural and narrative perspective. The project involves Julia Vallvé, an urban and cultural mediator; Adèle Sorge, an architect experienced in managing complex urban projects; Arthur Poiret, an architect, urban planner, carpenter, and lecturer at the Nancy School of Architecture; and Nicolas Depoutot, an architect and lecturer at the same institution, whose professional background also includes work within Jean Nouvel’s practice in the early 1990s. In Santo Pietro, their work focuses on co-design processes and on fostering dialogue between project imaginaries, local territories, and concrete interventions.

TWINPALACE is a special project led by the Scientific Direction of Bosco Colto Campus. The workshop focuses on the reassembly of selected parts of the Municipal Palace of Caltagirone, designed in the mid-19th century by architect Gianbattista Nicastro.

Starting from the replacement of the Palace’s historic window frames, valuable wooden elements that will be dismantled, the project activates their recovery as an opportunity to generate a new life for the civic building in another place.

TWINPALACE introduces the idea of a transspecies palace: an open configuration, crossed by non-human practices, capable of evolving over time and interacting with the living systems within Casa Bosco Colto.

The Scientific Direction of Bosco Colto Campus brings together Dario Felice / ANALOGIQUE, Marco Navarra / NOWA, Beatrice Fontana and Antonio Scarponi / Institute for Spatial Thinking. Their expertise combines academic research, design practice and field experimentation, contributing to the theoretical and operational development of the Campus.

The Campus is conceived as a collective workspace where design becomes a tool to read and activate landscape transformations, questioning the cycles of matter and the relationships between environments, living systems and multispecies forms of inhabiting.

Observatories Workshop with Food Hack Lab

Food Hack Lab is a non-profit organisation founded in 2015 in the Basque Country. It focuses on the observation, experimentation, and dissemination of technologies connected to the food chain, bringing together vernacular knowledge, open technologies, workshops, research, and public events. Since 2019, it has been developing LURLAB, a network of rural and peri-urban FABLABs dedicated to fabrication, collaborative design, and educational, ecological, and cultural practices rooted in local territories.

Following last year’s experimentation with Tools of Subsistence, the 2026 workshop evolves into Project Observatories: an action-research laboratory dedicated to building a small-scale territorial observatory in the Bosco di Santo Pietro. Over eight days, participants will design a situated physical device: a low-tech micro-architecture capable of measuring, listening to, and interpreting environmental data such as soil, humidity, light, sounds, and microclimates, using local materials and open-source technologies.

Sound, Ceramics and Communities Workshop with Domenico Mangano and Marieke van Rooy.
Curated by Salvatore Lacagnina

Ceramics is one of humanity’s oldest forms of production. Working with clay means engaging with cultures, territories, and natural environments in constant transformation.

The workshop is part of Sound, Ceramics and Communities, a project supported by Italian Council 14 (2025) and promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture. Taking place in the Bosco di Santo Pietro in Caltagirone, the programme brings together sculpture, ceramics, sound art, and participatory performance, also drawing on the artists’ experience at the Jatiwangi Art Factory Collective in Indonesia.

The research continues the work developed in previous Bosco Colto Campus workshops, expanding it through new experiments with ceramic instruments, wood-firing using a “train kiln”, and sound improvisation between the campus and the city of Caltagirone.

Domenico Mangano and Marieke van Rooy have worked as an artistic duo since 2014, when they founded their collaboration in Amsterdam. Their practice combines artistic experimentation, archival research, and participatory methodologies, exploring micro-histories connected to everyday life and its political and social dimensions.

Their work, often shaped by humour, poetry, irony, and alienation, includes films, installations, murals, ceramics, and performances, frequently involving the public directly.

Among their recent projects, Sound, Ceramics & Communities explores the relationship between sound, ceramics, and local communities. Winner of the Italian Council Award Ed.14, the project includes a performance and installation at MACC in Caltagirone and an exhibition at the Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics in Leeuwarden.
