Under the Watershed Project, Yuva Rural Association (YRA), in collaboration with Tata Trusts, initiated a Tree Plantation Drive on 15 August 2026.

In the first phase, tree plantation activities are being carried out in six project villages — Sherwadi, Dhanora Vaidya, Kinhi, Dhudalam, Borgaon, and Sonkhas in Murtizapur Taluka of Akola District.

A total of 1,120 saplings of various species have been planned for plantation under this initiative. The programme aims to promote farmer participation, tree conservation, and environmental protection.

The initiative will complement the project's ongoing efforts towards watershed development and sustainable agriculture, contributing to a greener and more sustainable rural environment.

Women's awareness meetings were conducted across villages in Latur district to promote awareness on child marriage prevention, child labour prevention, and various government welfare schemes. During these sessions, participants were educated about the social, educational, and health consequences of child marriage and child labour, along with the legal provisions and measures in place to prevent such practices.

The women were also informed about a range of government schemes available for children, women, and families. They were encouraged to access these benefits and play an active role in safeguarding children's rights, welfare, and overall well-being within their communities.

Biogas Project Activities – Nagpur & Bhandara District

As part of the Biogas Project implemented by the Yuva Rural Association (YRA) in Nagpur & Bhandara district, a maintenance and repair training session for beneficiary biogas units was conducted for women in Dongri BK village, Ambagad.

At Tuyapar, an Urja G*t was formed, followed by a group meeting. The members were also provided with training on the maintenance and repair of biogas units, with a focus on ensuring proper operation, regular upkeep, and long-term sustainability of the biogas systems.

HIMWP–YRA Bhamragad conducted activities under the Fish Seed Rearing & Self-Reliance initiative in Jijgaon, Dhodraj, Madveli, Mallampodur and Kier, distributing fish seed and feed to beneficiaries and providing guidance on fish farming and pond management. SRI and strip cultivation demonstrations were also conducted, covering spacing, water, w**d and organic fertilizer management, along with the benefits of SRI for reducing input costs, saving water and increasing productivity.

Climate Change in Marathwada: Impacts and Mitigation Measures – Discussion Session & Workshop

one-day discussion session and workshop on "Climate Change in Marathwada: Impacts and Mitigation Measures" was organized at MGM University, MBA College, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

The workshop was jointly organized by RRA Network Maharashtra, Pragati Abhiyan, and Queen Mary University of London. The event focused on the growing impacts of climate change in the Marathwada region, including erratic rainfall, recurring droughts, rising temperatures, declining groundwater levels, and their effects on agriculture and rural livelihoods.

Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on practical and sustainable solutions such as water conservation, afforestation, soil conservation, climate-resilient agriculture, energy conservation, and environmentally responsible lifestyles. The workshop also provided a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration among organizations working on climate resilience and sustainable rural development.

Representatives from several civil society organizations participated in the workshop. On behalf of Yuva Rural Association (YRA), Mr. Devaraj Patil (CEO), Mr. Arjun Kendre (Project Coordinator, Hingoli), and Mr. Dhondiba Paikrao attended the event.

The workshop concluded with a strong message that addressing the challenges of climate change requires collective action, community-based solutions, and widespread public awareness to build a more resilient and sustainable future.

Water Management Committee and Project Orientation
Date: 31/07/2026*

Under the Strengthening Community-Led Sustainable Water Resource Management Project implemented by Yuva Rural Association (YRA), orientation meetings on the Water Management Committee and project introduction were conducted on 31 July 2026 in Borgaon Khurd and Dabki villages.

The sessions provided an overview of the project's objectives, activities, and the importance of community participation. Participants were also oriented on the formation, roles, and responsibilities of the Water Management Committee and its significance in promoting sustainable water resource management. Villagers actively participated in the discussions, raised questions, and expressed their commitment to supporting the successful implementation of the project.
