As our cities and infrastructure continue to grow, we have a responsibility to ensure that progress does not come at the expense of our natural environment.

The recent installation of powerful reserve floodlights in Gujarat is another reminder of how easily we overlook the value of darkness. While lighting plays a vital role in improving safety and visibility, excessive or poorly planned illumination can come at a hidden cost.

As India continues to invest in modern infrastructure, integrating responsible lighting principles into every project is no longer just a best practice; it is an environmental responsibility. Thoughtful lighting design enables us to achieve safety and functionality while preserving the ecological balance of the night.

Floodlights are essential for safety and security, and they help keep important spaces visible when it matters most. At the same time, every lighting decision should also consider its environmental impact. Well-designed lighting can provide the visibility we need while reducing energy waste and protecting our night skies.

🌙Progress should illuminate what matters, without diminishing the value of darkness.

🌙Tonight, look up and witness the beauty of the Strawberry Moon, a reminder that the night sky is one of nature's greatest treasures. Every star, every moonrise, and every moment of darkness deserves to be protected from unnecessary light pollution

🍓The name comes from the The Old Farmer's Almanac, which adopted traditional names used by several Indigenous peoples of North America. For many of these communities, the full Moon in June signaled the time to gather ripe wild strawberries.

Other cultures have different names for the June full Moon, reflecting seasonal events:

Rose Moon (Europe) – associated with roses blooming in June.
Honey Moon or Mead Moon – linked to the honey harvest and the tradition of June weddings.
Blooming Moon – celebrating the abundance of flowers.

🌌Although the Strawberry Moon is usually golden, orange, or white, it can sometimes appear reddish when it is low on the horizon.

Let's celebrate the wonder of the night by preserving it for generations to come.

✨ Protect the night. Preserve the stars.

While accident deaths continue to rise, the misuse of high-beam headlights is still not being taken seriously enough. The glare from these lights can temporarily blind drivers, making it difficult to judge distances, spot pedestrians, or react to hazards on the road.

What makes the issue even more concerning is that data from the Motor Vehicles Department suggests that accidents linked to high-beam glare are more common than those caused by drunken driving or riding without a helmet.

In this video, we take a closer look at the growing high-beam problem, why it puts lives at risk, and what can be done to make our roads safer for everyone.

If you've faced this issue while driving, share your experience in the comments and join the conversation on improving road safety.

🌿 World Rainforest Day | 22 June 2026 🌿

Rainforests are the lungs of our planet, home to extraordinary biodiversity, and essential for a healthier future. Every tree preserved is a step towards protecting our climate, water, wildlife, and future generations.

This World Rainforest Day, let's pledge to protect what sustains life.

Together, our actions, big or small, can make a lasting difference.

🌙A Blue Moon is an extra full moon that occurs in a given time period due to the slight misalignment between the lunar cycle.

The Idiom: "Once in a Blue Moon" Because these "extra" moons are relatively uncommon, the phrase "once in a blue moon" has become a popular idiom meaning something that happens very rarely or infrequently.

🌌The Monthly Blue Moon: This is the most common modern definition and refers to the second full moon appearing within a single calendar month.

🌌The Seasonal Blue Moon: The traditional astronomical definition refers to the third full moon in a single astronomical season that happens to have four full moons instead of the usual three.

🤔Does the Moon Actually Turn Blue?
-A Blue Moon almost never looks blue. It looks exactly like a standard full moon. However, the moon can physically appear blue in very rare instances, such as following massive volcanic eruptions or extreme forest fires. In these cases, smoke or volcanic ash particles in the Earth's atmosphere act as a filter, scattering red light and allowing blue light to pass through.

🌠In astrology and spiritual practices, a Blue Moon is often viewed as an intensified full moon. Because full moons are associated with culmination and endings, a Blue Moon emphasizes the process of letting go, releasing unresolved emotions, and clearing out old habits to make room for new phases of life.

When we first spoke about disappearing stars and the importance of darkness, it started as a simple idea.

Today, that idea has become an officially recognized movement.

Dracula feared sunlight…
But what if today, even darkness isn’t safe anymore? 🦇🌃

Our nights are being swallowed by excessive artificial lighting hiding the stars, disrupting sleep, confusing wildlife, and erasing the beauty of natural darkness.

Light pollution is the environmental issue nobody talks about… until the night disappears completely.

Maybe the real horror story isn’t Dracula.
Maybe it’s a world that never turns its lights off.
