The Save Our Sisters (SOS) program is the anti-human trafficking initiative of Save the Children India (STCI) which began in 1996 as a result of rehabilitating and repatriating 122 Nepali girls rescued in a raid operation from the red-light areas of Mumbai. The SOS program was later formally incorporated in the year 2001 under an initiative known as ‘Commitment 2000’. Currently, the SOS program us

es a multi-pronged approach to holistically address the issue of trafficking for sexual exploitation through
the following 4 distinct interventions:

(1) Prevention at source
(2) Protection and Rehabilitation on of Survivors
(3) Effective Prosecution
(4) Policy and Advocacy
