*The Tragedy of Wasted Opportunity!*

*"And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth."*
— Matthew 25:25
*(Read Matthew 25:14–30)*

How often we regret *lost opportunities*! God has given each of us time, abilities, talents and opportunities—not merely for ourselves, but to serve Him, bless others and bring glory to His name.

Some fail to recognize or use what God has already given them because of laziness, fear or discontentment. Others desire different or greater gifts simply to gain recognition.

The Parable of the Talents reminds us that *God expects faithfulness with whatever He has entrusted to us.* Everyone has something to offer; no one is without value or ability. What matters is how faithfully we use what we have received.

One day, we will give an account to God. Faithfulness produces fruitfulness, while wasted opportunities bring loss.

So don't wait for something more before serving God. *Recognize what He has given you and use it wisely while you have the opportunity.*

*"Be very careful how you live... Make the most of your opportunities because these are evil days."— Ephesians 5:15–16*

Today’s Encouragement
*When Weighed Down by Stress!*
*************
In today’s world, many suffer from stress—the “wear and tear on the personality.” Stress can result from *too little change or too much change*, especially when life changes faster than we can cope.

When stress overwhelms us, we should first ask: *What is causing it? What triggered it? What happened just before the symptoms appeared?* Identifying the cause is an important step toward change.

Then we must examine where our *security* lies. Are we held back by fear, or rushing ahead because we are afraid to stop and face what is within us?

The less secure we are in God, the more we try to find security elsewhere. But true security in God brings *inner peace*.

> “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee; because he trusteth in Thee.” *Isaiah 26:3*

Let us bring our burdens to the Lord, trust Him, and refuse to carry tomorrow’s troubles today.

*Scriptures to reflect on:*

1. Stay close to God — Matthew 11:29
2. God gives peace — Isaiah 26:3
3. God promises rest — Exodus 33:14
4. Trust God to work things out — Psalm 139:3–5
5. Follow His guidance — Psalm 25:9
6. Listen for His counsel — Psalm 32:8
7. Don’t borrow tomorrow’s troubles — Matthew 6:34
8. Cast your cares on Him — Psalm 55:22

*Do You Hear From God?*

Peter and Andrew were casting their nets when Jesus called them to become “fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19).

The disciples at Emmaus recognized Jesus while sharing a meal (Luke 24:31). John met the risen Lord while worshiping “in the Spirit” (Revelation 1:10).

Jesus wants to speak to us too. He cares about every part of our lives and desires to guide, encourage, empower, and use us.

If He could speak to fishermen by the sea, disciples over a meal, and John on Patmos, *He can speak to us wherever we are.*

Be ready to hear His voice through His Word, through faithful preaching, and through the prompting of the Holy Spirit. When He speaks, do not hesitate to listen and obey.

Often, the problem is that we don't expect to hear from God—and therefore don't make time to listen.

*When was the last time you deliberately made significant time to listen to God?*

*2 Peter 3:18* — “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”

*John 10:27* — “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”

*Good Friends in Bad Times*

*“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” — Proverbs 17:17*

These days, it often feels like bad news does not just rain—it pours. Fear, insecurity, financial pressures, broken hopes and worries about the future can easily overwhelm us.

*He Knows and Cares*

There may not be an immediate solution to our problems, but God knows and cares. Often, He sends people alongside us to ease the burden—a friend who reminds us of our worth, invites us to dinner, listens to us, prays for us, or simply stays beside us.

*“If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!” — Ecclesiastes 4:10*

*Friends Are God-Given Gifts*

Friends—believers and unbelievers—can be precious gifts from God. But a mature Christian friend can do something more: point us to God, remind us of His faithfulness, and encourage us through his or her own testimony.

Sometimes we don't need many words. A simple *“Keeping you in prayer”* or a friend's quiet presence can bring great comfort.

Look around you. Who can you encourage today? And when you are going through a difficult season, don't isolate yourself. Find someone who has walked through hard times and still loves God. Such a friend is a precious gift.

But the *Best Friend* anyone can have is *the Lord Jesus Christ*.
He is closer than any earthly friend and promises never to leave us.
The risen Jesus walked alongside the discouraged disciples on the road to Emmaus—and He still walks with us in our darkest valleys.

Read *John 15:14–15* and ask yourself: *Is Jesus my true Friend?*

*LOVE CONQUERS*

*Song of Solomon 8:7 – "Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it."*

Love may not always succeed in changing the person we love, but it always changes the one who gives it. And love has a powerful influence to transform others too.

During the Communist takeover of Nanking, a Chinese Christian theology professor determined to respond to his attackers with love. When a soldier struck him with the butt of his r***e, he pointed to his other side and said, *“This too, please.”* The astonished soldier dropped his gun.

Later, when people tried to take his brass bed, he simply said, *“Here, let me help you.”* They were so ashamed that they fled.

Eventually, the Communists decided to execute him. As he was led away, he put his arm through the leader's arm and said, *“You are my friend; I expect you to protect me.”* At the ex*****on place, they released him, saying, *“What can you do with a person like this?”*

Love may not always overcome evil in such a dramatic way, but *love always has the last word.*

Give out love—only love. In doing so, you may transform yourself and, by God's grace, influence others to change.

*“...live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us..." Ephesians 5:2*

May you experience this *Conquering Love* and express it to others today.

*Numbered, Weighed and Found Wanting!*
*(Daniel 5)*

Belshazzar had not learned from Nebuchadnezzar’s experience. In his pride and arrogance, he thought he was secure—but that very night, his kingdom fell and his life ended.

The writing on the wall said:,*“Mene, Mene, Tekel, Parsin”*—*Numbered. Weighed. Divided.* His time had run out, and he was found wanting before God.

The message is still relevant today. We may build walls to hide our sins, but there is no wall high enough, no fortress secure enough, and no secret hidden enough from the all-knowing and holy God. *“God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing.”* *(Ecclesiastes 12:14)*

*Belshazzar’s arrogance. Daniel’s boldness. God’s judgment.*

We too will give an account for our thoughts, words and actions: *“We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.” (2 Corinthians 5:10)*

But there is also *good news!* God’s warning comes from His love. *“While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”* *(Romans 5:8)*
The cross warns us of sin’s judgment—but also provides salvation from it. Through sincere repentance and faith in Christ, our scarlet sins can become *“white as snow.”* *(Isaiah 1:18)*

So, what is the writing on the wall saying to you today?

*Numbered? Weighed? Divided?*
Or *Peace? Forgiven? Humble? Child of God?*

Let us not ignore God’s warning. Let us come to Christ and rest in His promise:

*“There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”*
*(Romans 8:1)*

Today's Encouragement
How to Find the Help & Hope We Need Today

September 11 will always remind us of the tragic images of the Twin Towers burning and the countless lives forever changed. We remember the rescuers who died, families who grieved, and all who suffered.

On days marked by tragedy, where do we find help and hope?

The Bible reminds us:

"The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." — Psalm 34:18

The God who knows every star by name is also the God who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3-4).

Our present suffering is not the end.
"The sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us." — Romans 8:18

And in our time of need, we can "draw near to the throne of grace" to receive mercy and find grace (Hebrews 4:16).

God also comforts us in our troubles so that we can comfort others with the comfort we have received from Him (2 Corinthians 1:4).

Whom will you comfort in affliction today?

🙏 Encouraging Prayer

Dear Lord,
There are days of sadness and days of joy, moments of failure and moments of success, but through them all, You remain faithful and Your love remains unchanged.
Help me not to fear the storms and changing circumstances of daily life. Let me remember that although there is an ebb and flow, You remain the same—faithful, loving and good.
Help me to receive Your comfort and become a source of comfort to others.
In Jesus' comforting Name! Amen.

Are You “Almost Anxious”?
— Bad, Sad, Mad & Good News!
*****************
The world is filled with bad, sad and mad news! Violence, tragedy, disasters and uncertainty can easily make us anxious.

Are you becoming “almost anxious”?

Anxiety can rob us of peace and joy. Some serious anxiety disorders require professional medical or counseling help. But for everyday anxiety, God’s Word gives us practical direction.

1️⃣ Take control of your thoughts
Paul says, “Take every thought captive to obey Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:3-5). Submit your mind to the Holy Spirit and fill it with God’s Word.

2️⃣ Focus on today
Jesus said, “Do not be anxious about your life” (Matthew 6:25). We can trust our past to His grace and our future to His providence. Live faithfully in the present.

3️⃣ Face your fears in faith
The disciples once hid behind locked doors because of fear (John 20:19). But after receiving the Holy Spirit, they boldly proclaimed Christ (Acts 2:4). The same Spirit empowers us today.

Paul reminds us:
“We do not lose heart... our inner self is being renewed day by day” (2 Corinthians 4:16).

When anxiety comes, name your fear, submit your mind to God, focus on today, and trust Him.

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
— 2 Timothy 1:7

Don’t let the bad news around you silence the Good News within you!

Today's Encouragement:
What is your Perspective?

"He makes the clouds His chariot." - Psalm 104:3
"My ways are higher than your ways." - Isaiah 55:8,9

We naturally see problems from a low, self-centered view - how will this affect me?

But there is a higher, divine perspective. Think of Daniel - dragged as a captive to Babylon, future looking like a dead-end. Yet God used that very trial as His chariot of victory.

The fire and the lions' den became the place where God's greatness was seen.

Your dead-end may be God's highway. What threatens you today, God can use to bring out the best in you and bless others.

*We are more than conquerors. - Rom 8:37(
