Happy news today! ❤️ Chiku has finally found her forever home.
We took our time to share this one because, after everything Chiku had been through, we wanted to give her the time and space to adjust to her new family first. And now, seeing how loved and comfortable she is, we finally feel ready to share her story.
When we first found Chiku, she had been abandoned in a terrible condition. She was frightened, withdrawn and scared of people. She didn't know that the hands reaching out to her were there to help.
Her journey to her forever home wasn't a straight one.
For the first few days, she found shelter with Lubna, one of our well-wishers. Then Kashish came into her life after responding to our foster support post and opened her home to Chiku. She stayed there for almost a month, slowly healing, eating well, enjoying her sunbaths and, most importantly, learning to trust humans again.
Later, due to unavoidable circumstances, we had to move her to Amy's place, another wonderful well-wisher who has helped us with fostering before. She stayed there for another 15–20 days before moving to a paid foster for more than two months at Happy Paws Dibrugarh.
And there, Chiku opened up even more.
She became this little therapy dog at the shelter, welcoming the dogs at the boarding, playing with her mates and filling the place with her presence. She even formed such a beautiful bond with the family at Happy Paws that it was genuinely difficult for them to let her go.
Then came our recent adoption camp.
And finally, after changing so many places and leaving behind the horrible past of abandonment, Chiku found her forever.
She finally has her own home. A family to call her own. ❤️
Our team has been visiting her since her adoption because Chiku seemed to miss her life at Happy Paws and the people she had grown attached to there. But watching her slowly settle into her new home and seeing how loved she is now has been such a beautiful feeling.
Someone abandoned her.
Someone else chose to give her a chance at life.
