Menstrual Hygiene Day is observed every year on May 28 to break taboos and raise awareness about menstrual health. In many communities, menstruation is still treated as shameful or impure. The day helps normalize conversations, so girls and women don't feel embarrassed about a natural process. With the initiative of District Water and sanitation Committee, Dhemaji, SEDO celebrated Menstrual Hygiene Day in Subahi area on the border of Dhemaji and Arunachal Pradesh today. SEDO Field Executives Pallabi Gogoi and Harkant Narha gave lectures and demonstrations on menstrual hygiene as resource person to the people in the presence of SEDO President cm District Coordinator of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Bedjyoti Shaikia and SEDO Managing Trustee Nabajyoti Dutta.

During Bohag Bihu, it has been a tradition among Assamese people for householders to be blessed through playing Huchori in their courtyards, and the amount given by the householder is traditionally used as a public fund for community development. With the aim of contributing slightly to social welfare and development, in 2002, the SEDO, started its first office built with the very funds collected by playing huchori. Now, in the year 2026, SEDO has entered its silver jubilee year. Therefore, on the occasion of this silver jubilee year, SEDO's workers, with the intention of reliving that golden past and keeping in mind the goal of the silver jubilee closing ceremony, once again come together—Members of the Governing Body, staffs, community representatives, children, the child parliament—playing huchori and raise local funds.

Today SEDO has celebrated International Women's Day with joint collaboration of Dakhin Dhemaji Gaon Panchayats. Tejaswini Award presented to Snigdha Dutta.
The program was started with plantation activity by Dhemaji Zila Parishad Member Pranita Gogoi. Afterwards, a competition was held among the women titled "Finding Hidden Talent" where the women performed according to their hobbies in dance, song and acting etc. The open session was presided over by Dakhin Dhemaji Gaon Panchayat President Runjun Patir Borpatragohain and welcome addressed by Nabajyoti Dutta, Managing Trustee, SEDO. Professor Tultul Phukan of Shilapathar College delivered the keynote address. The open session was attended by Dhemaji Town Development Authority Chairman Tulan Konwar, Dhemaji Zila Parishad Member Pranita Gogoi, Bharatiya Janata Party Dhemaji District President Rupa Kaman, Dhemaji District President of Assam Yuva Parishad Dimple Gogoi as distinguished guests. An award called "Tejaswini Award" is given to a woman who has become self-reliant without the help of men and has fulfilled her social responsibilities by providing good education to her children. The 2026 Tejaswini Award will be awarded to Snigdha Dutta of Matikhola village in Dakhin Dhemaji and the award will be continued in the future also. The Dhemaji District Water and Sanitation Committee presented awards to two successful presidents of water user committees and a Jalmitra of three women on the occasion of Women's Day.

Socio-Economic Development Organization (SEDO) has stepped into its Silver Jubilee Year on 9th February 2026, completing 24 years of dedicated service since its establishment in the first decade of the 21st century, committed to the socio-economic development of the Dhemaji District an underdeveloped district of Assam.
To commemorate this significant milestone, the organization has observed 9th February 2026 as its 24th Foundation Day, along with the inaugural ceremony of the Silver Jubilee Year celebrations. The occasion marks a moment of reflection on our journey, achievements, and continued commitment towards inclusive and sustainable development.

Week-long Cleanliness campaign (Steet Play and Public meeting) from 19th January 2026 with the support and collaboration of Dhemaji Anchalik Panchayat under Dhemaji Development Block. We are very thankfull to Mrs. Kuhima Kardong, Chairman, Dhemaji Anchalik Panchayat and Mr. Palash Hazarika, B.D.O. Dhemaji for providing an opportunity to take a step forward in Solid Waste Management under Swachh Bharat Mission.

According to the new education policy, Social Internship was included in the fifth semester curriculum of the college. Orientation was given as a starting point to the students of Dhemaji City College, Economics Department of Dhemaji College, Assamese Department of Silapathar College etc.
