קצת על היחידה:
יחידת הלוט"ר או בשמה השני בית הספר ללוחמה בטרור של צה"ל, אמונה על הכשרת מגוון רחב של אוכלוסיות לוחמים במקצועות הלוט"ר, הקליעה והצליפה. היחידה אחראית באופן בלעדי על הדרכה ופיתוח תורות לחימה כמו גם שותפה פעילה בעשייה המבצעית בשגרה ובחירום. היחידה הוקמה בשנת 1974 במסגרת הפקת לקחים מתוך אירועי טרור באותה תקופה, ועברה גלגולים שונים עד שבשנת 2003 צורפה תחת אותה קורת גג למדורי קליעה וצליפ
ה על מנת ליצור בית ספר אחד המכשיר את המקצועות המיוחדים.
ביחידה קיים מסלול הכשרה ייחודי, מסלול לוט"ר, אשר מכשיר לוחמים ומדריכים בתחומי לוט"ר ספציפיים. בתום המסלול, בוגריו מתחלקים להדרכה ועיסוק שוטף בתחומי לוט"ר, פריצה, צליפת לוט"ר ולוחמת גובה. עמותה זו הוקמה על מנת לתמוך ביוצאי היחידה בוגרי המסלול, וכן להוות עמוד תווך גם ליחידה עצמה. About the unit:
The LOTAR unit, aka The IDF Counter-Terror Academy, is responsible for the qualification and training of combat personnel in the fields of Counter-Terrorism, marksmanship and sniping. The unit is exclusively responsible for the instruction and development of combat techniques as well as taking an active part in the military operational front. The unit was founded in 1974 as part of a learning process from previous terror attacks and has surpassed since until in 2003 was united with the sniping and marksmanship sections under the same roof to create a single body for all the related specialties. In the unit there exists an inner, unique training program that qualifies combat personnel and instructors as one in specific counter terrorism professions. At the end of the training program, the graduates are split into sections for handling specific specialties such as CT warfare, breaching, CT sniping and altitude warfare. This association was founded in order to support the unit veterans (LOTAR training program alumni) as well as to serve as a pillar for the unit itself.
