🦉 ANOTHER BARN OWL BOX HAS FOUND A NEW HOME !!!
We’re delighted that it has gone to Mayfield Birds of Prey Portlaw where Willie will use it to help visitors learn more about these beautiful birds. A big thank you to Andrew for making the connection. Dune Action supports 12 coastal communities across the island of Ireland experiencing accelerating dune erosion. The programme is delivered as a two-day training course designed to equip local groups with the knowledge, skills and tools needed to understand, monitor and restore their local dune systems. Today we met with Síona from Cluain Lárach estate, who invited Tramore Eco Group to share ideas on maintaining the estate for biodiversity and raising awareness of the wonderful wildlife around us. Catherine, our wildflower 🌻 expert suggested leaving pockets of grass to grow wild, creating habitats for wildlife and insects. Brian Jacob from Waterford Trees for Life shared ideas for planting orchards of small apple trees 🌳. There were lots of ideas for encouraging birds, insects, bats and other wildlife to make their homes there. What a wonderful walk and talk with historian Paul Brent along the back strand this afternoon. We learned so much about the people who lived there - their homes and gardens, their businesses and the history of the racecourse and golf course. A fascinating glimpse into the people and places that shaped the area. Thank you Paul, for bringing its history to life.
