Time to get out the traps!! Posting this article from today’s Irish Times. We need to be vigilant following the discovery of another Asian hornet in Ringaskiddy. If you think you see a hornet take a photo and post to this group and contact the National Biodiversity Centre. Hopefully we can keep them out of our area

East Waterford Beekeepers Association had a wonderful weekend at Harvest Festival 2026. Thank you to all involved in the organisation of this great event. Visitors to our tent were invited to taste different types of real honey produced by local beekeepers. Our observation hive was a big hit and some visitors were even lucky enough to spot the Queen. Míle buíochas to all our visitors and to our hard working volunteers.

It’s not every day you get a mention in National Geographic!

We were delighted to see Galtee Honey Farm featured in this beautiful piece about Ireland’s ancient landscapes — and particularly loved the writer’s insight into the Galtees and the landscape we’re lucky enough to call home.

Standing here at the foot of the Galtee Mountains, surrounded by hills, woods and valleys, we’re reminded every day of what a beautiful place this is.

But when it comes down to it, all the recognition really belongs to our native honey bees, like this one on my finger. Just one of millions that have contributed to our success over the years.

They’re the ones who spend their days working the wildflowers, heather, ivy and hedgerows of the Galtees, turning this extraordinary landscape into something very special.

Our bees have been part of this landscape for almost 60 years, and we’re very proud to share a little piece of the Galtees with visitors from Ireland and around the world

𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐄𝐔 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) today welcomes the introduction of new EU labelling rules for honey, which came into effect on 14 June 2026.

Under the new rules, all countries of origin for blended honey must be clearly indicated on the label, in descending order of weight, along with the percentage contribution of each country.

Honey on the market on or before 14 June 2026 will continue to be on the market until stock runs out.

We're delighted to share that Galtee Honey Farm will feature on Nationwide on RTÉ One this Friday, 12th June, 7pm.

Join us as we explore the story of the Native Irish Honey Bee, the tradition of beekeeping in Ireland, and the special connection between bees, honey, heritage and biodiversity.
