One of Meath's greatest literary voices is being celebrated in a beautiful new two-part film series.

Where Angels Listen brings together a host of renowned Irish artists, including Steve Wickham and Oisín Leech, with original performances inspired by the poetry of Slane's own Francis Ledwidge.

Great news for Ireland’s film industry.

The Visual Effects (VFX) Uplift to the Section 481 Film Tax Credit is now in effect, providing enhanced support for eligible productions with significant visual effects expenditure.

This is a welcome development that will help attract more international productions, support our talented VFX artists and create new opportunities across Ireland’s growing screen industry.

A positive step for filmmakers, production companies and the wider creative sector.

Congratulations to Navan filmmaker Eamonn James Norris on the world premiere of his new horror short film, Night Terrors, at the Galway Film Fleadh on Friday, 10 July 2026.

A fantastic achievement for Eamonn and everyone involved in bringing this chilling new production to life.

The film stars comedian Fred Cooke in his first dramatic screen role, alongside frequent collaborators Moya Farrelly and Elaine Kennedy, while introducing Shéa Kelly and Robin Breen in the lead roles.

Best of luck to Eamonn and the entire cast and crew at the Galway Film Fleadh. It’s wonderful to see another talented filmmaker from Meath showcasing their work on such a prestigious stage.

Here's another clip from 'A Meath Miscellany' screening tomorrow evening at 7.30 at the Solstice Arts Centre
This is a story from Gael Linn's 'Amharc Éireann' newsreel which also features new housing estates in Trim and a Fleadh Rince in Oldcastle.

There's also a lavish American dramatisation of St. Patrick’s trial at Tara, footage from the 1949 All-Ireland Football Final when Meath claimed a dramatic victory over Cavan & the colour of Butlins holidaymakers captured on film.

Local pianist Aodhamair Reilly will provide live musical accompaniment for the silent films in the programme, creating a unique and immersive cinematic experience for audiences.
The screening will be introduced by Sunniva O’Flynn, Head of Irish Film Programming at the Irish Film Institute (IFI) who will provide insight into the films and the work of the Irish Film Archive in preserving Ireland’s rich audiovisual heritage.
