Volunteer Laois

Volunteer Laois Laois Volunteer Centre is a new service in County Laois. Volunteer Laois has been set up as part of the Local and Community Development Programme (LCDP).

We are a registered charity which aims to connect non profit organisations and people to create volunteering opportunities for the benefit of communities and individuals. This programme is designed to counter disadvantage and to promote equality and social and economic inclusion. The programme works with unemployed people, older people, young people, one parent families, people with disabilities,

low income families, travellers and volunteers. The LCDP Programme, which encourages partnership with social inclusion groups, agencies and communities, has four main goals:

•To promote awareness, knowledge and uptake of a wide range of statutory, voluntary and community services.

•To increase access to formal and informal educational, recreational and cultural development activities and resources.

•To increase the work readiness of people to enter the labour market.

•To promote engagement with policy, practice and decision-making processes on matters affecting local communities

•Volunteer Laois staff will contact all volunteers and organisations within 24 hours of online registration.

The theme for Refugee Week 2026 has been announced and Nasc is looking forward to taking part.

At a time when some seek to divide and blame in Ireland, Refugee Week is a chance to come together and share the courage to welcome, to stand for what we believe in, and to celebrate culture and community.

Courage isn’t always loud or bold. It can be found in simple acts: opening your door to a neighbour, trying new food, reading a book, or watching a film that changes your view of the world. It can be speaking up, asking for help, sharing your story – or simply having the courage to be yourself.

Join us for Refugee Week from 15–21 June 2026.
